Cybersecurity protection: Panorays, a provider of automated third-party security lifecycle
management, has unveiled a security intelligence solution known as Dark Web Insights.
The new feature enhances Panorays’ third-party security management solution and serves as
an additional layer of cybersecurity protection.
Using Panorays’ Dark Web Insights, companies can now become proactive about monitoring criminal threats to their supply chain.
The evaluator company automatically receives a
notification when there is abnormal activity on
the Dark Web regarding the third party.
The new Dark Web feature checks mentions
of a specified third party on hacker forums and
other nefarious marketplaces. It provides the
ability to monitor potentially malicious hacker
chatter about opportunities to target the third
party, sell databases of personal information, or
take advantage of system weaknesses for financial benefit. (Panorays, www.panorays.com)
Mobile robot replenisher: Conveyco
Technologies’ new flow-rack autonomous
mobile robot (AMR) replenisher, the Stacker-Bot, was designed to eliminate labor and boost
accuracy and efficiency without the need for
breaks or human supervision.
The Stacker-Bot can store and retrieve inventory from the floor, a shelf, or a conveyor level,
picking up to five SKUs (stock-keeping units) in a
single trip. The robot automatically picks a case
or tote, scans the unit’s bar code, and stores it
in any of its five on-board shelves. It then uses its
RCS (robot control system) and communicates
to the WMS/WCS host software system.
Once the Stacker-Bot has retrieved the
desired totes or cartons, it is directed via the
WMS/WES software host to the exact locations
where the items are to be placed. The specific
rack, shelf level, and shelf location for each of
the five SKUs is communicated to the Stacker-Bot. The robot always travels via the shortest
path to its put-away location.
Upon receiving its instructions, the Stacker-Bot uses its two-dimensional camera technology
to find its first location. It verifies its position by
scanning the bar code on the rack and shelf
level. Then, it places the tote or case in the prop-er SKU location in the back of the flow rack.
The Stacker-Bot travels to its next location and repeats this process until its load is
depleted. It then goes back to the reloading
station to pick up more SKUs and begin the
process all over again. Each Stacker-Bot comes
equipped with multiple and redundant safety
protections, including a laser obstacle-avoid-ance system. (Conveyco Technologies, www.

Space-efficient sorters: Material Handling Systems
(MHS), a single-source provider of material handling
automation and software solutions, has expanded
its in-house sortation portfolio with the addition of
the new HC-Loop cross-belt sorter and HC Smalls
sliding-shoe sorter.
The HC-Loop is the company’s first cross-belt sorter, offering a flat carrying surface to handle the high
volumes and package variety typical of e-commerce
operations efficiently and accurately. It includes an automatic centering feature
that precisely locates items in the center of the conveying surface for consistent
divert accuracy. According to MHS, this level of accuracy allows the system to
use narrower divert chutes, boosting sortation capacity while maintaining an
efficient footprint. The HC-Loop has a modular design for layout flexibility and
space savings, and uses minimal components for improved reliability and simpler
maintenance. The HC-Loop uses the new MHS linear induction motor that avoids
contact and vertical attraction for smooth, constant operation that contributes to
long lifespans and precise speed control.
The HC Smalls sorter from VanRiet, an MHS company, is a sortation solution
designed for the smallest, lightest parcels and is capable of handling items as small
as four inches long by two inches wide by 0.02 inches high, and as light as 0.1
pounds. The sliding-shoe design works in tandem with rounded slats to prevent
thin products from becoming trapped underneath shoes and causing jams. It
offers a high density of exits to maximize capacity in a space-efficient framework,
with low noise levels and a maintenance-friendly design to keep operations productive. (MHS, www.mhsglobal.com)
