Electric forklift truck: Mitsubishi
Caterpillar Forklift America Inc.
(MCFA)—the provider of
Jungheinrich lift trucks and narrow-aisle products in the United
States, Canada, and Mexico—has
introduced the new Jungheinrich
EFG 540k-EFG S50 series of electric, pneumatic-tire forklifts.
Also known as the “Pure Energy Completed” series, the EFG
540k-EFG S50 forklifts offer customers seven models within the
8,000- to 11,000-pound capacity range. The options include
compact models offering equivalent capacities. Customers can
also choose closed cabins, electronic power steering, keypad
access, cold storage prep, and dual pneumatic tires.
Jungheinrich has improved the forklifts’ energy efficiency up
to 20 percent over the previous model series. Power consumption is minimized through the continued advances in the company’s AC electronic control system and strategic placement of
key components within the lift truck’s chassis. The EFG 540k-EFG
S50 series can also complete the most pallet movement cycles
using the least amount of energy compared with competitive
products. This energy efficiency is demonstrated by the fact that
the EFG model can run up to two shifts on a single battery
charge in most applications.
The new forklifts not only feature extended battery life but also
have the ability to effectively operate in a wide range of indoor and
outdoor applications, such as agricultural and lumber environments.
The EFG 540k-EFG S50 series also features improved ergonomics. The forklifts have a spacious operator compartment with a
three-way adjustable, full-suspension seat; a long right-side convenience tray with clipboard and cup holders; and a hydraulic
lever control. (Jungheinrich, www.jungheinrich-lift.com)
Garment-on-hanger container: The
Sea-GOH, a reusable, collapsible garment-on-hanger (GOH) container, is
now available in the United States.
A large portion of garments must be
shipped on hangers to their retail markets. For many years, the process for
shipping such garments has been to
deliver empty shipping containers that have been rigged with
hanging bars to the clothing factory. There, they are manually
filled and then shipped to the end market from a nearby port. On
arrival, the process is reversed: transport the container to a retailer’s distribution center, manually unload the garments, dismantle—and scrap—the hanging bars, and release the empty container. With container capacities of up to 12,000 garments, this
process is time-consuming and costly.
The Sea-GOH is designed to replace these traditional containers. It is a metal frame with hanging bars that can be folded flat.
Up to 64 folded Sea-GOHs can be shipped in one container. The
Sea-GOH can be assembled in minutes. It is then loaded on the
clothing factory floor and placed by a forklift into a container for
shipment. (Sea-GOH USA, www.seagohusa.com/)
Counterbalanced lift truck: The Crown ST 3000-25 Series
walkie straddle stacker from Crown Equipment Corp. is capable of
handling up to 2,500 pounds and working in environments with
tight spaces, such as grocery and retail operations. The Crown ST
3000-25 is available in North America and South America.
The stacker’s compact design, combined with Crown’s X10
Handle, is a key reason why the stacker can maneuver in small
spaces. The durable, cast-aluminum control handle features
advanced ergonomics so operators can effortlessly perform any
function necessary. A brake override feature ensures accurate
maneuvering when the handle is in the near-vertical position.
This allows the stacker to easily turn in an area almost as small
as its own footprint and reduces the risk of damage to the truck,
load, and facility. The stacker’s low-profile power unit and clear
mast design give operators a clear view when they’re working
with elevated loads or moving products throughout the facility.
Unlike typical counterbalanced trucks that require an 11- to
13-foot aisle to operate, the Crown ST 3000-25 allows managers
to use 6- to 7-foot aisles so they can maximize storage space.
The Crown ST 3000-25 comes with an onboard charger that
allows its 24-volt powered lift and travel system to be charged anywhere in the facility. Easy access to the battery compartment sim-plifies battery maintenance. (Crown Equipment Corp., crown.com)
