72 DC VELOCITY JANUARY 2014 www.dcvelocity.com
RECENT RESEARCH WE CONDUCTED REVEALS THAT, ON
average, logistics executives attend just over one conference annually. With literally hundreds of logistics-related events taking place
all over the world in 2014, the reality is you will miss most of
them. That’s where we come in.
With by far the largest and most experienced editorial team in
the logistics market, we have the capacity to cover ground you
can’t, gathering and delivering the business intelligence you might
otherwise miss. In other words, even when you can’t be there, DC
VELOCITY will be there for you. Count on it.
Here’s just a sampling of the 50-plus key trade shows and conferences where at least one member of our
team, and sometimes as many as nine, will be
there for you.
The year kicks off with the National Retail
Federation’s (NRF) Big Show in New York.
While not a logistics trade show per se, it offers
attendees a chance to hear about best practices
in retail distribution. At a time of skyrocketing
interest in e-commerce and omnichannel distribution, we consider it a hidden gem.
We’ll also be halfway around the world in
January bringing you coverage of the Council
of Supply Chain Management Professionals’
global conference in Singapore. After all, supply
chains by their very nature are global, so how
could we expect to bring you the information
you want and need if we don’t cover the globe
ourselves?
There’s no slowing down for our editors in February, as we will
be covering, among other events, the Retail Industry Leaders
Association’s (RILA) annual supply chain conference. Like the
January NRF show, the focus will be on retail, but unlike NRF,
RILA offers a conference that’s designed specifically for retail
logistics and supply chain executives.
March brings four events, including the Modex show in Atlanta
that is so big, and provides so much useful content, that we send
a small army of editors to cover it. We’ll also be at the annual
meeting of the International Warehouse Logistics Association
(IWLA) and the Georgia Logistics Summit.
April brings us the annual conference and exhibition of the
Warehousing Education and Research Council (WERC), which
we consider among the Top 5 opportunities to harvest valuable
content. April also includes NASSTRAC’s annual conference, a
smaller, but nonetheless extremely valuable and
well-run event. The annual meeting of the
Transportation Intermediaries Association (TIA)
and the National Logistics & Distribution
Conference are among six other April events at
which we will be on site.
After a brief summer lull, we start racking up fre-
quent flier miles again in September, starting with
Dematic’s Material Handling & Logistics
Conference, an event that always impresses with the
quality of speakers. We’ll also be at the National
Defense Transportation Associa-
tion confab and the Intermodal
Association of North America’s
Intermodal Expo before our full
editorial team reports for duty in
San Antonio to mine the mother
lode of conferences and shows:
the Annual Global Conference of
the Council of Supply Chain
Management Professionals.
October and November bring
such great events as Pack Expo,
the annual meeting of the
American Society of Transporta-
tion & Logistics, the Parcel
Forum, and MHI’s Annual
Meeting and Executive Confer-
ence. It all winds up with the venerable granddaddy
of logistics shows and conferences, the National
Industrial Transportation League’s Annual
Conference and TransComp exhibition. Even after
all these years (100-plus), the NITL event remains
the pre-eminent stop on the conference and trade
show circuit for a deep and targeted look at the state
of freight transportation.
While we urge you to attend as many events as
you can, we know being everywhere just isn’t possible. That’s where you can rely on us. We’ll be there
for you!
