Structural mezzanines: Mezzanines By Design’s products are made of structural steel components, feature all nut-and-bolt construction, and are designed to be free standing. With these structural mezzanines, anchoring of the footplates to the slab is the only type of attachment required.

The company says the nut-and-bolt construction gives users the flexibility to move the structure to other areas of the warehouse or even to other facilities. Ladder safety gate: A-Mezz, a company specializing in the design and engineering of mezzanines, modular industrial offices, material lifts, wire enclosures, in-plant buildings, and material handling equipment, has introduced a bi-parting paired safety gate for mezzanine ladders. The new Paired MLG Ladder Safety Gate is designed for applications when you can’t have a single door—where the swing of the full-sized gate would create interference. The new gate offers one-half the swing distance.

The paired safety gate can fit openings ranging from 16 inches up to 52.5 inches, with 7. 5 inches of adjustability per pair. Designed to work with any round or square pipe, flat or angle rail, or wall mount, the gate features an adjustable self-stop that does not require a center post to stop. Mezzanine flooring: Mezzanine flooring manufacturer Cornerstone Specialty Wood Products offers several ResinDek mezzanine floor panels. The ResinDek LD is custom manufactured and engineered for a 2,000-pound pallet jack capacity, while the ResinDek SD comes standard with a 2,500-pound wheel load capacity. Both panels were designed to be cost-effi-cient flooring for mezzanines, industrial work platforms, and pick modules and are designed to withstand heavy equipment, rolling carts, and pallet jack loads.

Alarm system: An open gate on an elevated mezzanine level is a serious safety concern. To address this issue, Wildeck Inc. has introduced the EdgeAlert open-gate alarm system. The EdgeAlert alarm will signal an open-gate condition with a visible flashing light and a loud audible alarm.

The EdgeAlert alarm is easy to operate and can be installed on new or existing swing gates, slide gates, tilt gates, and scissor gates. It includes a 120 VAC plug-in power supply and can also be powered by four long-life alkaline “D” cell batteries (not included with the device). A single-pole, single-throw 30V, 2A, 60W relay output is provided for connection to other alarms or safety controls. A dual-channel processor system is self-monitor-ing and will display a “fault” signal if a sensor or wiring problem is detected.

For visibility at elevated and ground levels, amber-colored LED lights are located on the front and back of the alarm enclosure. When a gate is being used, workers may choose to silence the EdgeAlert alarm for 120 seconds by pressing the “snooze/ acknowledge” button. However, during this brief loading or off-loading period, the warning light continues to flash. Once an open gate has been closed and secured, users can reset the EdgeAlert alarm by pressing the snooze/acknowledge button again or simply opt for the automatic reset mode.
