Configurable AS/RS system: Advance
Storage Products has introduced Rover, the
next generation of automated storage and
retrieval systems. Rover is a configurable
three-dimensional shuttle-based AS/RS that is
cost-effective, flexible, and scalable, according to the company. It is designed for use
by manufacturers and distributors, including
those in the food, beverage, and frozen-food
industries whose operations demand flexible
high-density storage with high throughput.
From selective to deep-lane storage, Rover
provides the ability to configure lane depths
to match slotting needs and is easily expandable. Multiple Rover vehicles can work in a
single aisle, allowing high throughput, unlike
traditional AS/RS systems.
Rover’s design offers flexibility as well.
The system can vary storage depths within a
lane and be configured to existing building
footprints. (Advance Storage Products, www.

Mapping software: Paragon Software
Systems has launched the Waypoint Mapping
module. This latest innovation will enable
fleet operations to benefit from higher levels
of efficiency, customer service, and safety
by ensuring that actual journeys keep to the
expected plan.
Waypoint Mapping sends the Paragon route
plan directly to the driver, providing turn-by-turn guidance through the Sat Nav device
to achieve the most efficient journey, while
factoring in any road or truck restrictions. The
company says providing drivers with guidance
in the cab will help ensure that optimized
routes are more closely followed, with the
transport office able to review any diversions
during the driver debrief back at the depot.
When used in conjunction with Paragon’s
Route Control, Waypoint Mapping enables
transport operations to better comply with
time-sensitive road restrictions or congestion caused by sporting or cultural events.
The adoption of Paragon’s Truck Attribute
Data will also help users avoid routes where
the vehicle may exceed weight or size limits, including narrow roads and low bridges. (Paragon Software Systems, www.para-gontruckrouting.com)
Enhanced battery monitors: Advanced Charging Technologies (ACT) has added
new capabilities to its BATTview battery monitors by adding data integration functionality between BATTview units and Quantum chargers.
Data integration allows both Quantum chargers and BATTview units to improve
charge cycle communications in addition to scheduling and delivering precise equalization cycles and tracking charge cycle termination conditions. This allows for better overall diagnosis of charger and battery performance issues and demonstrates
the future of smart devices for fleet asset, energy management, and forklift battery
charging technologies. (ACT, www.act-chargers.com)
