WORKING WITH A
ONE TRICK PONY?
With a whole herd of dimensioning
products, CubiScan has a system to
meet your needs.
Simply put, we won’t sell you a product that doesn’t
make sense. Many companies will tell you their
system can measure anything, anywhere. They have
one product being sold as a one-size-fits-all solution.
Our experience and our product depth are evidence
that this simply is not the case.
Over the past 30 years, we’ve developed 13 unique
dimensioning products built for specific applications.
With over 12,000 units installed worldwide and
off-the-shelf data interface solutions allowing for more
immediate ROI, we’re confident we have the right
dimensioner for you.

Cubing and weighing system: Not all
dimensioning systems are the same. The
dimensioning system that you use to measure
the length, height, and weight of a parcel or
box might not be able to give you accurate
readings on irregularly shaped items like a
whisk, hiking poles, or even a piece of clothing like a T-shirt.
The new CubiScan 325 dimensioning and
weighing system is designed to handle those
types of objects. It has a measurement capacity of up to 24 inches by 24 inches by 36
inches and a measurement accuracy of 0.05
inches. The weight capacity is 50 pounds,
and the weight resolution is 0.005 pounds.
Depending on the object being measured,
each measurement takes three to seven seconds. The CubiScan 325 can also measure
and weigh boxes or parcels but will not be
as fast as other dimensioning systems sold by
the company.
CubiScan also offers a mobile cart and a
portable power supply to create a mobile
cubing and weighing workstation. (CubiScan,

IIo T adapter: In its continuing effort to help
manufacturers leverage the Industrial Internet
of Things (IIoT) to improve productivity and
reduce manufacturing costs, Mitsubishi
Electric Automation Inc. has introduced an
MTConnect adapter to facilitate shop floor
monitoring. MTConnect is an open standard
that allows the sharing of a common language between machines and other electrical
equipment from various manufacturers.
Compliant with version 1. 31 of the
MTConnect standard, the new MTConnect
adapter captures the NC data from machines
on the shop floor in real time and formats
it into the MTConnect standard. Using one
common communication tool for all equipment eliminates the need for specialized
proprietary software from multiple equipment
vendors.
When combined with a third-party client
software interface, the MTConnect adapter
gives executive management, plant managers, and shop floor personnel a complete
overview of shop floor activity. Armed with
that data, shop floor personnel can quickly
detect problems or inefficiencies in their production line and take action to remedy the
situation.
Machine tools in North America equipped
with the latest Mitsubishi Electric CNC controls can immediately use the MTConnect
adapter to connect equipment on their shop
floors. (Mitsubishi Electric Automation Inc.,

Bar-code scanner: Scandit, a developer of software-based bar-code scanning
solutions for smartphones, tablets, and wearable devices, has released its bar-code
scanner SDK 5. 2 for iOS, Android, Windows, and other platforms. This latest iteration includes a new premium feature called MatrixScan that enables users of any
camera-equipped device to locate, track, and decode multiple bar codes at once.
Among other benefits, the MatrixScan feature allows users seeking a specific
product among many similar boxes to quickly search and find the desired item. The
mobile scanning device localizes and decodes all bar codes in the frame and then
highlights codes matching search criteria. (Scandit, www.scandit.com)
