Cloud-based YMS: Technology provider Exotrac says it has
updated its YardTrac yard management system to make it more
scalable and user-friendly.
The YardTrac solution provides real-time trailer pool data,
asset visibility, and process management tools for storage yards,
manufacturing plants, distribution centers, and truckload carriers.
Exotrac now offers Yard Trac on a new cloud-based platform, which
provides 99.9 percent uptime, the flexibility to adapt to increases in
demand, and the ability to host multiple sites per client.
The system is also easy to integrate with the customer’s enterprise systems. Yard Trac uses a secure file transfer protocol and can
provide arrival, departure, and load status updates to the client’s
legacy systems. It can also validate load, appointment, and pickup
identification numbers.
Yard Trac can help with clients’ inspection needs as well. The system provides a C-TPAT checklist and allows users to log damages
and upload pictures and signatures.
Exotrac now offers a new “turnkey” program that provides an
all-in-one yard management solution, including software as a service (SaaS), equipment, and data. Customers pay a monthly fee for
the program, which requires little to no corporate IT involvement.
Exotrac also has its own native Android apps that connect to
Exotrac’s cloud-based solution. Users in any yard management
role (such as security, yard spotter, or dock manager) can perform
their specific tasks and retrieve information on their Android device
from anywhere. Corporate-level personnel can manage and audit
operations through metrics and reporting on their own phones.
YardTrac can also facilitate dock-door scheduling. (Exotrac,

SaaS yard management system: C3 Yard is a Web-based
yard management system (YMS) that allows warehouses and manufacturing sites to automate their yard moves and gate and dock
processing. It also provides visibility into trailer and shipment status
and can improve worker productivity.
Previously, the solution was a client/server application, which
had to be hosted at the customer’s site. Now, as a software-as-a-service (SaaS) solution, C3 Yard is hosted in a secure, high-avail-ability data center.
Customers access the solution via their Web browsers and are
able to view three different screens: one for the gate, one for the
yard view, and one for the dock. The gate control screen provides
each site with the ability to capture the relevant information for
a quick and efficient driver entry and departure. The system can
work in collaboration with the C3 Reservation appointment schedule or an independent feed (such as from a transportation management system), or without any pre-arrival information.
The yard view screen provides a real-time visual representation
of the yard. This screen presents an accurate physical depiction of
the yard operation and allows users to see in real time as trailers
are moved to/from locations in the yard.
The dock control interface allows users to supervise the dock
doors, yard parking areas, and the gate and to assign moves and
tasks to the yard driver. C3 Yard is also combined with C3’s dock
scheduling system.
The C3 Yard solution includes a mobile touchscreen device,
which the yard driver uses to receive instructions.
C3 Yard can also provide a variety of reports, such as trailer history; trailer list, status, and time in yard; and yard driver activity
history. (C3 Solutions, c3solutions.com)
