Omnichannel solutions for apparel:
Dematic, a supplier of intralogistics systems,
has introduced new automated technology
and software solutions that help retailers and
wholesalers meet the specific requirements
of apparel distribution and order fulfillment.
Dematic’s solutions address the common
issues associated with omnichannel retailing, such as order fulfillment costs, margin
pressure, SKU proliferation, order processing
accuracy, and inventory visibility.
The new Dematic automated and software
solutions for e-commerce order fulfillment
and retail store replenishment include:
b Light-directed put-to-store for appar-
el store replenishment: A high-performance
solution for operations with a large number
of SKUs and low to high order volume.
b Batch pick-to-sorter for apparel e-com-
merce fulfillment: A large-volume piece-pick-
ing solution suited for a wide variety of order
profiles.
b Automated storage with goods-to-person
workstations for apparel omnichannel distribution: An efficient solution for high-density
storage of apparel items that feed order picking workstations.
Each of these new solutions incorporates
software that continuously evaluates resource
utilization and dynamically adjusts/prioritiz-es work flows to reduce cycle time, labor,
and unit costs. Actual system configurations
depend on business volume, geographic constraints, and logistics philosophy. (Dematic,

Forklift battery and charger: The Raymond
Corp. is the first forklift manufacturer to offer
the NexSys battery and charger system from
EnerSys factory-direct with select orders of its
walkie pallet and stacker trucks.
The system, sold through Raymond Sales
and Service Centers, is available fully installed
as well as ready to integrate into existing systems and lift trucks. The battery and charger
system features a high-frequency charger
and sealed thin-plate technology batteries,
which do not require service and are well suited for opportunity-charging environments.
NexSys can fully recharge in three hours.
Conventional battery and charger systems,
in comparison, typically take eight hours or
more to fully recharge.
In addition, NexSys can benefit drivers of
Raymond lift trucks who operate outside a
warehouse, such as on a delivery dock, where
they need reliable power to complete a task
and have minimal time to maintain batteries.

Driver/load tracking service: InMotion Global Inc. says it is the first transportation
management system (TMS) provider to offer driver and load tracking at zero cost.
The service can be used as part of the company’s own Ascend TMS system or as a
standalone service in conjunction with another TMS system.
The driver tracking service, called Ascend Tracker, provides the exact location of
the driver within a few feet. The load tracking service works by sending a driver a
specially encoded text message. The text message grabs the driver’s exact location,
stores the load’s historical locations, and provides feedback from the driver regarding the load’s status. (InMotion Global, http://inmotionglobal.com)
