New Products
the best environmental option on the
market and WBCC is the first waterborne clear coat on the market. The company said while several paint manufacturers anticipated the change well over a
decade ago and have technology, equipment and training available for auto
shops in transition when it comes to
toner, none of these companies thought
to produce one of the most important
steps in painting a vehicle, the clear coat.
The expected release date for WBCC
is January 2009. Testing has shown
WBCC is durable to environmental
stresses, is compatible with all waterborne and solvent-based paints, and provides a shine that matches or exceeds
current market standards. An important feature of WBCC is the absence of
any isocyanates, a chemical that has
been proven to cause medical conditions
from asthma to cancer.
NEW LIGHT/MOISTURE
CURE CONFORMAL COATING
Dymax Corporation has introduced
Dual-Cure 9481, a conformal coating
that has met the requirements of

MIL-I-46058C requirements.
MIL-I-46058C and IPC-CC-830B.
Dual-Cure 9481 is solvent-free and is
specifically formulated for rapid cure
when exposed to UV and/or visible
light. Its ability to cure in seconds
enables faster processing, greater
output and lower assembly costs.
Ambient moisture will cure areas
shaded from light over time. The
material has low surface energy to
ensure wetting on circuitry, processing materials and components.
Viscosity is optimized for application
of .001-.003” coating thickness by
industry standard spray systems.
Dual-Cure 9481 fluoresces blue when
exposed to black light for rapid quality control inspection of coated areas.

developed to be quick and easy to
use. This single product replaces the
standard thinner and is added at the
same mixing ration as directed on
the relevant clearcoat Technical Data
Sheet. By using Speedflash, all these
VOC clearcoats can be applied with
one half and one full spraycoat, without the need to flash off between
coatings, and is suited for use on vertical panels. Benefits of using this
product include, energy reduction,
with up to a 75% reduction in booth
idle times, a minimum 15% reduction

ies in a convenient point-and-shoot
package. This new Six 10 Thickened
Epoxy Adhesive meters the proper
ration of epoxy resin and hardener
from a multi-chambered tube that
fits in any standard caulking gun.
The pre-thickened components travel
through a static mixer where they
are fully blended before being dispensed in a smooth workable bead.
This gap-filling structural epoxy
bonds to wood, metals, fiberglass and
concrete. The mixture will not run or
sag. Six 10’s physical properties are
ideal for stitch and glue boat construction, fiberglass laminate repair and
general marine bonding. The hardener
provides a long open time but has fast
through-cure. The epoxy cures at temperatures as low as 50˚F. At room temperature, it cures to a solid in 5-6
hours and is ready to withstand heavy
loads in 24 hours. CW
