Exousia names international distributor
Exousia Advanced Materials’ Aegeon
Advanced Coatings division has reached
an agreement with The Harco Group, a
Brussels-based international distributor,
to become the master distributor for
Aegeon industrial coatings in the Gulf
Cooperation Council (GCC) Countries.
The GCC consists of Saudi Arabia,
Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, the United Arab
Emirates and the Sultanate of Oman.
Under the agreement, Harco will become
the exclusive GCC distributor for
Aegeon’s value line of ThermaCorr high-temperature coatings, high-performance
tank linings and underwater industrial
coatings. Key uses include offshore platforms, underwater pipelines and high-temperature refining applications. Harco
will distribute Aegeon coatings into
major international oil and gas producers throughout the GCC. Harco has
placed an initial stocking order, for shipment in early first quarter 2009, which
will produce revenues of $368,950.

Aegeon president, Garner Holdsworth.

continued pursuit to be a global supplier
of value-added coatings to the oil and gas
industry.”
“Aegeon’s line of high-performance
coatings meet the demanding requirements of oil and gas production,” said
Harco Group CEO, Harry Babikian. “We
know there is a strong market for these
specialized coatings, but we had not been
able to identify the right supplier to partner with. Our customers in the industry
have already confirmed we have a winning combination.”
75/25-majority interest in its Kayaku
Akzo Co. Ltd (KAC) joint venture with
Nippon Kayaku.
KAC has been a 50/50 joint venture
between the two companies for nearly
40 years. A supplier of organic peroxides to Japan, the business has sales
offices in Tokyo and Osaka, Japan, as
well as a manufacturing and research
and development facility in Asa.
“This opportunity allows AkzoNobel
to gain access to the Japanese market
and take on the leadership in the long-standing cooperation,” said Rob Frohn,
board member responsible for Akzo-
Nobel specialty chemicals.
“We respect the success KAC and its
employees have had to date and we
look forward to our continued partnership with Nippon Kayaku,” added
AkzoNobel polymer chemicals general
manager Alan Kwek.
The general management of the
new organization will effectively
remain unchanged and will be governed by an oversight committee of a
board of directors representing both
AkzoNobel and Nippon Kayaku, who
will retain a minority ownership
interest.
