AkzoNobel’s International brand of
protective coatings, linings, and fire-pro-tection products, has launched Interline
975P, a new solvent-free, single-coat
potable water lining solution, into the
North American water and wastewater
market. Formulated as a two-compo-nent, 100 percent volume solids, zero
VOC (volatile organic compound) amine
cured epoxy tank lining, Interline 975P
reduces solvent emissions and eliminates
the risk of solvent retention, which can
influence water quality. The absence of
Benzyl alcohol further minimizes the occurrence of taste or smell in potable water tanks during storage. When applied
to the correct specifications, Interline
975P conforms to the NSF/ANSI
Standard 61* international standard for
the storage of potable water.
With a simple 2:1 mix ratio (by volume), Interline 975P provides additional
corrosion protection to steel storage
tanks and pipelines exposed to a wide
range of cargoes including crude oil, and
a variety of other hydrocarbons.
Henkel Expands Line of
Loctite LED-Compatible
Adhesives
Henkel has expanded its offering of
LED-compatible Loctite adhesives, sealants, potting materials and threadlockers.
The LED-compatible line now includes
38 products that improve the reliability
and help lower the manufacturing costs
of these lighting devices. While the presence of incompatible adhesives can impair the performance of LEDs, use of
LED-compatible Loctite products helps
to ensure long life, even for components
exposed to extreme temperatures, dust/
dirt, vibration and underwater submersion, according to the company.
Henkel LED-compatible products
are engineered for use in roadway/
parking lot, industrial/commercial, con-
sumer/residential and architectural ap-
plications. The company also offers
automated dispensing systems and fast-
cure adhesives.
PPG Launches HI-TEMP
222G Coating
PPG Industries’ protective and marine
coatings (PMC) business has launched
PPG HI-TEMP 222G high-temperature
coating that protects substrates from corrosion under insulation (CUI) and can
be applied directly to hot surfaces up to
400˚ F. PPG HI-TEMP 222G coating is
a single-component product, requiring
fewer cans of paint and no mixing, and
thereby reducing labor costs. It can be
applied in environments such as power
plants, petrochemical facilities, refineries
and offshore rigs. Independent studies
have shown that between 40 and 60 percent of all pipe maintenance costs directly
result from CUI.
PPG HI-TEMP 222G coating can be
top-coated with a variety of hues that
won’t discolor at elevated temperatures,
and it is available throughout PPG’s extensive worldwide network. PPG is one
of the world leaders in protective and
marine coatings. Its products protect customer’s assets in some of the world’s most
demanding conditions and environments,
such as projects in energy, infrastructure
and marine markets.
AkzoNobel Offers New
Binder Technology
AkzoNobel has introduced a more sustainable clearcoat for the vehicle refinish
market, which represents a significant
step forward in terms of performance
and customer benefits. Launched by the
company’s Automotive and Aerospace
Coatings business, Sikkens Autoclear
2.0 uses patented binder technology to
deliver a perfect finish and outstanding
drying characteristics, while doubling the
percentage of renewable raw materials it
uses, according to the company. Designed
to bring greater efficiency and flexibility
to bodyshop processes, the new product
can be dried at 40°C or 60°C – saving
energy costs – and offers customers the
same benefits, whether they are working
on a spot repair or a total re-spray.
Formulated with 13. 5 percent renew-
able ingredients, Autoclear 2.0 can be
applied quickly and easily, producing
less waste and no compromise on results
– even at lower baking temperatures – al-
lowing for immediate handling, polish-
ing and reassembly after drying. It is the
latest example of AkzoNobel’s Planet
Possible approach to product innova-
tion, which is focused on creating more
value from fewer resources. Now avail-
able in Europe, the new product is part of
the company’s advanced Sikkens vehicle
refinishes system, which is being continu-
ously refined through a partnership with
the McLaren Formula One racing team.
New Krylon Dual
Superbond Paint + Primer
Offers Adhesion and Rust
Protection
New Krylon Dual Superbond features a
proprietary formula that offers a high-adhesion, specialty primer that ensures
top performance even on hard-to-paint
surfaces such as plastics, laminates and
melamine, as well as other commonly
painted surfaces.
According to the company, research
shows consumers looking to update and
protect their metal surfaces – weathered
metal in particular –often use a primer.
Dual Superbond offers maximum rust
protection without the need for a primer,
while providing remarkable coverage, durability and corrosion protection. In addition to its performance benefits, Dual
Superbond makes application easy. The
two-in-one product preps the surface
with no sanding or priming required.
Plus, Krylon’s EZ Touch conical spray tip
requires the lowest force to spray on the
market, making finger fatigue a thing of
the past, while also minimizing the occurrence of runs and drips. CW
