PPG Industries announced Michael H. McGarry will become president and CEO, effective Sept. 1, 2015.
McGarry will join the company’s Board
of Directors immediately.
McGarry, who has served as PPG’s
president and chief
operating officer
since March, will
succeed chairman
and CEO Charles E.
Bunch in the role of
CEO. Bunch, who
has led PPG for the
last decade, will continue as executive
chairman.

said McGarry. “I am looking forward to
leading PPG as we continue to focus on
our customers, deliver excellent business
performance and create additional share-
holder value.”
Bunch said, “Michael is a proven stra-

erational excellence and an unwavering
commitment to PPG’s core values.”
During his 34 years with PPG,
McGarry has served in a variety of key
business and functional leadership roles
in the U.S., Europe and Asia. In recent
years, he helped lead several strategic
actions that have transformed PPG’s
business portfolio, most notably the ac-
quisition of SigmaKalon; the separation
of PPG’s former commodity chemicals
business; the acquisition and integration
of AkzoNobel’s North American archi-
tectural coatings business; and, most
recently, the acquisition of Consorcio
Comex, S.A. de C.V.
Powder Coatings Institute
Names Executive Director
Following the retirement of execu-
tive director Dave Lurie, the Powder
Coating Institute (PCI) has hired Goyer
Management International (GMI) to pro-
vide complete management services of
the association. Goyer Management will
oversee all day-to-day activities and op-
erations of PCI.
Additionally, Goyer Management has
hired, and the PCI Board of Directors
has approved, Trena Benson as the new
executive director of the Powder Coating
Institute. Benson will manage all aspects
of PCI from membership recruitment and
retention, to educational programming,
the development and implementation of
a revised strategic plan, products and services and more.
Benson comes to GMI and PCI with
more than 20 years
of marketing experience in the powder
coating industry. She
previously worked
for Axalta Coating
Systems where she
served in marketing
management for the
last 10 years. She
served on DuPont
Powder’s leadership
team where she participated in training
efforts on behalf of the organization.
Goyer Management has retained Lori
Koning as PCI’s national sales manager,
and has hired two new staff members,
Sharon Rayl and Julie Ward, to assist
with accounting and administrative
work respectively. The existing Goyer
Management staff will fulfill the additional roles for the association.
Brilliant Group Adds Three
to Growing Technical Team
Brilliant Group, Inc., a specialist in
fluorescent colors headquartered in
Richmond, CA, announced the addition
of three members to its growing technical team.
Shaun Mihalick has joined as tech-
nical service representative, reporting
to Darren Bianchi, president. Mihalick
brings more than seven years of expe-
rience in coatings research and manu-
facturing, previously with AkzoNobel
Coatings. In this newly created posi-
tion, Mihalick adds to the breadth and
depth of Brilliant’s technical team. He
has a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from
Willamette University.
“He will support our customers and
distributors to facilitate successful product selection and use,” Bianchi said.
In addition, Elizabeth Li has joined
as a chemist, reporting to Ray Peria,
technical manager. In this role, she
will support the overall R&D efforts of
the company. Li has a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from the University of
California, San Diego.
Dennis Vaught has joined as a plastics technician, also reporting to Peria.
Vaught will support the research, development and quality control of Brilliant’s
products for the plastics market.
“We are confident that these valuable
additions to our team will allow Brilliant
to increase our ability to provide customer support and to speed product development, providing greater value to the
marketplace,” Bianchi said.

Grimes to the newly created role of global vice president of its Automotive Plastic
Components (APC) business. In this position, Grimes will provide global strategy
for the APC business to help drive growth
across regions and work with research
and development teams to continue to
create products that help its customers
exceed their objectives. Automakers are
increasingly looking to plastic and other
new materials as they work to help satisfy
