Valspar has completed a multi-year reformulation initiative that’s yielded a
comprehensive line of high-perform-ing, zero-VOC products. Each product has earned GREENGUARD Gold
Certification, validating that they meet
very rigorous indoor clean air standards,
while maintaining the highest standards
for durability, performance and color
consistency. Available exclusively at
Lowe’s, the assortment represents the industry’s only full lineup of zero-VOC interior paints across all price points to be
sold at any home improvement retailer in
the country, offering consumers a product
that’s right for their walls, their wallets
and their families.
Valspar currently offers four zero-VOC interior paints at Lowe’s: Reserve,
Signature, Ultra 2000 and Ultra 4000.
Valspar Reserve has been VOC free since
launching more than two years ago; the
Valspar Ultra series was re-launched last
year as zero-VOC; and Valspar Signature
is the most recent beneficiary of a new
formulation, which also delivers better performance and durability than the
previous formula. Regardless of the customer’s color choice, from the palest to
the deepest hue, all tints used to color the
zero-VOC base paints are free of VOCs
themselves.
Valspar Reserve: In a competitive cate-
gory, Reserve has been a consistent stand-
out since its introduction. For the second
consecutive year, in testing by a leading
consumer magazine, Reserve ranks No. 1
in performance among zero-VOC paints.
It is an all-in-one paint and primer, a
single-coat application that’s a time-saver
for today’s busy lifestyles, plus excep-
tionally stain and scrub resistant, which
adds to its value for even the most active
households. It is available in flat, eggshell,
satin and semi-gloss sheens. Suggested re-
tail starts at $42 per gallon.
Valspar Signature: This newly im-
proved high-hiding paint and primer
and assures smooth coverage and finish.
It is fade resistant and distinguished by
Valspar’s Scuff Shield Technology, which
protects against scuffs and stains. Valspar
Signature is available in flat, eggshell, sat-
in and semi-gloss sheens. Suggested retail
starts at $31.98 per gallon.
Valspar Ultra 2000: A professional
grade go-to workhorse, Valspar Ultra
2000 offers a high-performance latex
coating with excellent touch-up, best-in-
class durability, and superior hide and
coverage. It is an ideal choice for resi-
dential repaint and renovation, as well as
for new construction. Whether sprayed,
brushed or rolled, the paint’s excellent
flow and leveling properties provide a
smooth, uniform finish that’s also dura-
ble. Ultra 2000 is available in flat, egg-
shell, and semi-gloss, starting at $18.97
per gallon.
Valspar Ultra 4000: Recommended
for commercial maintenance and new
construction segments, it provides excellent hide and coverage, durability and
touch up. It applies easily when sprayed,
brushed or rolled. Ultra 4000 is offered
in flat, eggshell and semi-gloss, starting at
$15.97 per gallon.
Sherwin-Williams Introduces
KEM Aqua 3001 for Heat-
Sensitive Substrates
Sherwin-Williams, through its Product
Finishes Division, has introduced KEM
Aqua 3001, a waterborne acrylic topcoat
for application on vinyl windows, trim,
shutters and doors.
Available in satin and semi-gloss
sheens, KEM Aqua 3001 can be used
on heat-sensitive vinyl building prod-
ucts such as windows, shutters, doors,
and trim in multifamily and residential
new construction projects as well as the
remodel/replacement windows segment.
It utilizes a proprietary solar reflective
technology to reduce heat buildup (HBU)
across a wide range of colors.
HBU can result in deformation, warp-
ing, or “oil canning,” and in general,
darker shades are at greater risk to expe-
rience HBU. According to the company,
more homeowners are expressing person-
al style with darker colors in windows.
The solar reflective coating allows OEMs
to expand their palette to meet this de-
mand without sacrificing performance.
The fast-drying coating can be applied
direct to the substrate with one coat, or
two for added performance.
HMG Paints Introduces
Acrythane ACE
HMG Paints has introduced Acrythane
ACE, a new high performance 2K Acrylic
Polyurethane finish, to its portfolio.
Acrythane ACE is a high-solids, low-
VOC topcoat designed to meet the ex-
acting requirements of various markets
including commercial transport/OEM,
agricultural and construction equipment.
The companies research and development
team have worked alongside customers to
develop an optimized formula, using the
latest resin technology, which offers high
durability and chemi-
cal resistance for de-
manding markets.
The product offers
improved anti-sagging
and anti-marring
properties and is easy
to apply via conven-
tional/airless, air as-
sisted or pressure pot with excellent flow
characteristics resulting in a superior high
gloss finish across a number of substrates,
according to the company. Due to HMG’s
innovative UNTI LITE tinting system
Acrythane ACE is available in a wide va-
riety of colors including RAL, BS 4800,
BS 381C or can be color-matched to a
submitted color standard. CW
