Solvay to Increase
Production Capacity for
Hydroquinone & MEHQ
Solvay Aroma Performance plans to build
an additional production capacity of
Hydroquinone (HQ) in China starting-up
in 2018. This investment will be based on
an innovative and environmental friendly
technology.
In addition, the Global Business Unit
will extend its worldwide Methyl hydroquinone (MEHQ also referred as PMP
– paramethoxyphenol) capacity. Both
projects will support Solvay captive needs
as well as the growth of HQ and MEHQ
markets, particularly in Asia.
Kuraray America Opens
Poval Plant in SE Texas
Kuraray America Inc., a global provider
of specialty chemical, fiber and resin
production, recently opened its new,
green-field KURARAY POVAL plant
in Pasadena, Texas. The opening of this
plant further distinguishes Kuraray as
the largest producer of polyvinyl alcohol (PVOH) in the world, the company
stated. KURARAY POVAL is used in a
wide range of industries, including paper,
textile, emulsion, PVC, construction, adhesives, packaging and oil.
Situated on 81 acres of land, the new
KURARAY POVALTM plant will produce 40,000 metric tons of PVOH annually and employs a total workforce
of nearly 100 employees (54 Kuraray
employees and 40 contract personnel).
Kuraray’s strategy for growth within the
Houston area is due to developments in
natural gas exploration technology, specifically shale gas and the excellence of
area infrastructure and ideal workforce.
Cray Valley Breaks Ground
on New Polybutadiene
Plant in France
Total Cray Valley (TCV) has tarted con-
struction on its new C4 chemical manu-
facturing plant in Carling, France. TCV
will use the new plant to produce liquid
polybutadiene. With the ability to pro-
duce several thousand tons of product per
year, the plant expands TCV’s
global market leading position in
polybutadiene production, both
in volume and range of function-
ality. The plant is scheduled to go live in
October 2016.
The new facility is Total Cray Valley’s
fifth manufacturing plant for this prod-
uct line, adding to the strength of the
