William “Skip” Leonard
Awarded RCMA’s Industry
Statesman Award
The Roof Coatings Manufacturers
Association (RCMA) recently awarded William “Skip” Leonard of Henry
Company, with the Industry Statesman
Award at this year’s RCMA Annual
Meeting at the Rosen Shingle Creek
Hotel in Orlando, Florida. Leonard is the
9th recipient of the Industry Statesman
Award, a discretionary distinction only
designated when deemed appropriate.
The Industry Statesman Award rec-
ognizes its honoree for special efforts
on behalf of the RCMA in advancing
the roof coatings industry, and only on
several occasions since the award’s in-
ception in 1994 has the RCMA identi-
fied a member deserving of this peer
recognition. Industry Statesman Award
recipients are honored for outstanding
interest and activism in promoting the
roof coatings industry and exemplary
efforts to achieve significant advance-
ments through the implementation of
new technical programming, regulatory
or governmental affairs incentives, re-
search activities, technical publications,
and RCMA and industry involvement.
PPG Names Gipe
Automotive Platinum
Distributor
Gipe Automotive, Inc., has
been named the PPG 2012 Platinum
Distributor of the Year. The announcement was made by Bob Wenzinger, director of the PPG Platinum Distributor
program, during the awards banquet at the annual PPG Platinum
Distributor Conference.
Wenzinger and Greg Benckart, vice
president, PPG Automotive Refinish
Americas, presented the award to Gipe
Automotive president Tom Gipe.
“It is always a pleasure to recognize
the Platinum Distributor of the Year, and
this year is no exception,” said Wenzinger.
“Gipe Automotive has been an outstand-
ing, customer service-oriented PPG dis-
tributor for years and deserves to be
honored for its growth and success and
the contribution it has made to support-
ing the PPG brand, our products and most
important, its customers. We are proud to
recognize the Gipe team tonight.”
Tom Gipe accepted the award with
key members of his management team
who were also in attendance at this year’s
esteemed event.
“To be named Platinum Distributor
of the Year is quite a surprise and very
humbling,” said Gipe. “I’m accepting the award on behalf of our entire
company. I’m happy for all the people
at Gipe Automotive. They’re top quality, great to work with and the reason
we’ve received this honor. We all focus
