PPG Hires Sklarsky as
Executive Vice President, Finance
PPG Industries has hired Frank S.
Sklarsky as executive vice president, finance, reporting to chairman and CEO
Charles E. Bunch. Also, effective August
1, Sklarsky will be named PPG executive
vice president and chief financial officer.
David B. Navikas, currently PPG senior vice president, finance and chief
financial officer, will continue in his current role until August 1, and will then
continue as senior vice president in a
senior leadership role that will be announced later.
Most recently, Sklarsky was executive
vice president and chief financial officer,
Tyco International, Ltd., a global provider of security, fire protection and flow
control solutions with revenues that exceeded $17 billion.
Prior to joining Tyco, Sklarsky served
as executive vice president and chief financial officer at both Eastman Kodak
Co. and ConAgra Foods, Inc. Previously,
he spent 20 years with Chrysler in a series of senior financial leadership roles.
He also held finance positions with Dell,
Inc., after beginning his career with Ernst
& Young.
Sinetar to Lead Combined
PPG North American
Architectural Coatings
Business
As a result of PPG Industries’ recent acquisition of the North American architectural coatings business of AkzoNobel,
Scott B. Sinetar, vice president, PPG architectural coatings, North America, has
been appointed to lead the combined architectural coatings business. Sinetar will
report to Michael H. McGarry, executive
vice president. Sinetar was named to his
current position in 2006. Previously, he
served as manager, national accounts;
national sales manager; director of sales;
and general manager, architectural coatings. Earlier in his career, Sinetar held a
variety of positions with Olympic Paints
and Stains.
Specialty Polymers Inc.
Hires New Technical
Director
Specialty Polymers Inc., has hired Paul
Harris to be the company’s new technical director. In his
role as technical director, Harris will
manage, direct and
coordinate polymer
development and
applications labs
for the company. He
will also be responsible for directing
the development of
new polymer technologies and manage
technical support.
Harris has more than 25 years of
experience in design, development,
scale up and production of polymers
used in automotive OEM coatings and
acrylic latex chemistry. Prior to joining Specialty Polymers Inc., he was
with BASF Corporation in the U.S. and
Germany, and was an assistant professor of Inorganic Polymer Chemistry at
Virginia Tech.
Paul Harris
Superior Materials Expands
its Sales Force
Superior Materials, Inc. with headquarters in Garden City, NY, an established
specialty chemical distributor/agent has
added Jim Smith to its sales and marketing team.
Smith has recently joined Superior
Materials in the role of Mid-Atlantic
Account Manager. He is based in the
Baltimore area and will be responsible
for MD, VA, WV, DE, Southern NJ and
PA territories. Smith has worked for
Eastman Chemical Products and most
recently Brenntag Specialties. He brings
experience to Superior Materials with
expertise in all recipe industries that
Superior services including coatings, plastics, graphic arts, cosmetics, household,
food and allied areas.
McCullough & Associates
Hires Business
Development Manager
McCullough & Associates has appointed
David A. Roth as business development
manager. Roth will continue to be involved in sales but will also be responsible
for new and existing market expansion,
product line development and strengthening ties within the chemical community.
Roth has more 24 years of experience in
the chemical industry including 16 years
at McCullough & Associates.
Sartomer Appoints Market
Managers
Sartomer USA, LLC, has appointed a
team of market managers to drive growth
and leadership in each of the company’s
major markets. Each manager is responsible for leading the company’s commercial activities in their assigned segment.
The team reports to Heather Rayle,
senior business director for Sartomer.
Appointments to this team include

NACE International Institute
Names New Executive
Director
The NACE International Institute has appointed Helena M. Seelinger as its new
executive director. Seelinger has been
a staff member of NACE International
since 1986, where she has served in
multiple leadership roles within the organization, including service as interim
executive director of NACE in 2005; director of education during the organization’s initial international expansion and
global training partnerships; and currently serves as senior director of membership
and government relations. CW
