unsaturated monomer, 1c) and optionally
at least one polymerized olefinically unsaturated monomer different from monomers 1a) and 1b), and wherein the mixture
of olefinically unsaturated monomers (2)
is comprised of 2a) 5%-80% by weight
of at least one unsaturated vinyl aromatic
monomer, 2b) 5%-50% by weight of at
least one vinyl monomer with at least
one polar heterocyclic group with a 5
or 6 membered ring, containing at least
one ring nitrogen atom which is not
connected to a hydrogen atom, 2c) and
optionally at least one olefinically unsaturated monomer different from monomers 2a) and 2b), wherein the percent
by weight of component 1a) are based
on the total amount of macromonomer
(1) and the percent by weight of components 2a, 2b and 2c are based on the total amount of the mixture of olefinically
unsaturated monomers (2) and add up to
100% by weight.
Boeing Patents System
for Applying Abrasion-Resistant Coating
U.S. 8,206,794 B2
The Boeing Company has obtained a patent for a method for applying a silicon oxy-carbide coating onto a substrate comprised
of the steps of introducing a shielding gas
and a plasma-source gas to an atmospheric
plasma device to generate an atmospheric
plasma; introducing a cyclic organosiloxane precursor to the atmospheric plasma,
the cyclic organosiloxane precursor being
carried by a carrier gas; and while the cyclic
organosiloxane precursor is being introduced to the atmospheric plasma, positioning the substrate relative to the atmospheric
plasma device such that the atmospheric
plasma deposits the silicon oxy-carbide
coating onto the substrate.
Protective Coatings for
High Strength Steel
U.S. 8,206,791 B2
Texas Research International, Inc. has been
granted a patent for a process for coating a
metallic surface of an aircraft comprised of
applying a composition that polymerizes
to form a polyurea wherein the polyurea is
formed from an A-side and a B-side, where
the weight percents of components for the
A-side are: 30%-65% of polyisocyanate;
from 15%-70% a polytetramethylene ether
glycol; diluent, 0%-20%; where the weight
percents of components for the B-side are:
from 35%-405 of one or more diamines;
from 205-70% of one or more amine terminated polyether polyols, and wherein the
polyurea has a tensile strength of more than
3500 psi and at least 700% elongation.
