Sun Chemical Performance Pigments
has added new transparent red and yellow iron oxide pigments to its range of
Sunsperse ECO aqueous pigment dispersions for waterborne emulsion architectural and industrial paints.
The new transparent red and yellow
iron oxide pigment dispersions stand
out for their high color purity, clarity
and reduced haze, making them suitable
for a variety of industrial and architectural applications, including waterborne
wood stains. The twelve-color range developed for the in-plant production of
ready mixed colors, are APEO-free, VOC-free and resin-free, and comply with the
European regulation on the limitation of
volatile organic compounds (Directive
2004/42/EC).
Sunsperse ECO aqueous dispersions
offer high color strength, excellent light
and weather fastness, broad compatibility with waterborne systems, outstanding
stability to sedimentation and drying out,
good wet-rub resistance and viscosity,
and narrow specifications. The full line
of colors covers 90 percent of all in-plant
usage, and will be expanded according to
customer needs.
DIC Introduces New
MEGAFACE RS Series
Fluorosurfactant Additives
DIC has introduced MEGAFACE RS, a
series of fluorosurfactant additives, which
have excellent compatibility with a variety of resins for UV curing on coating
film surfaces.
Added to formulate a variety of self-cleaning and fingerprint-resistant coatings for a wide range of substrates and
applications, including smartphone covers, small countertop appliances, refrigerators and kitchen cabinets, MEGAFACE
RS is also compatible with any high-touch surface, unlike conventional anti-graffiti additives.
MEGAFACE RS additives resist oil and
water acting as a stain guard, especially
against oily fingerprints. Due to the low
friction properties of the additives, the
UV hard coats can prevent scratches and
higher surface slip. Additionally, the addi-
tives help the coatings to last longer and
help make the surface smoother.
Charles Ross & Son Co.
Introduces Discharge
System with Electronic
Pressure Control
Charles Ross & Son Co. has introduced
a new Discharge System with Electronic
Pressure Control. This Discharge
System is used in conjunction with
Ross Planetary Mixers and Multi-Shaft
Mixers designed for processing high viscosity applications. After the mixing cycle, the vessel is simply rolled over to the
Discharge System which is programmed
to maintain a desired platen pressure.
This enables automatic and controlled
transfer of the finished product straight
into the filling line.
Ross Discharge Systems consist of a
platen that is lowered hydraulically into
the mix vessel. The platen is fitted with
an O-ring which rides against the vessel
wall as the platen pushes down on the
batch. Product is forced out through one
or more outlet valves located on the vessel or on the platen. Interfaced to a PLC-based Control Panel, the new Discharge
System features a cylinder-mounted linear transmitter for precise indication of
platen position. When the platen reaches
the bottom of the vessel, all product outlet valves automatically close and a vent
valve opens as the platen retracts to the
up position.
In addition to accelerating product
transfer and reducing contamination risk,
this method of discharging viscous or
sticky mixtures also prepares the mix vessel for easy clean-up. Virtually all of the
product is pushed out by the platen; in
most cases, only a thin layer of material
remains on the vessel bottom requiring
very minimal manual cleaning.
Brookfield Engineering
Introduces New RheocalcT
v1.2.19
Brookfield has announced the release of
RheocalcT Software v1.2.19. This new
update now includes Test Wizards for
rapid test creation, Yield Testing for the
DV3T Rheometer, improved layout and
navigation, and additional Import/Export
functions.
The RheocalcT Test Wizard was de-
signed to reduce the time and effort need-
ed to set up popular tests such as: time
to stop, time to torque, speed ramp/shear
rate ramp and temperature profiling.
RheocalcT Test Wizard can create a Thix
Index Test or a curing test to automati-
cally reduce speed at preset torque values.
Union Process Builds Dry
Grinding Lab Attritor
with Special Charging and
Discharging Capabilities
Union Process, Inc. has designed and
built a new lab-size SD1 dry grinding
Attritor with a special charging and discharging apparatus. Whereas typical SD1
Attritors are designed for grinding under
inert atmospheres with shaft seals, jacketed tanks for heating or cooling, charging ports, and gauges for control of the
pressure in the vessel, this new model is
equipped with newly designed charging
and discharging vessels. This unique system is designed so that one can charge
the mill in a controlled atmosphere, inerted with nitrogen or argon, and also
discharge the mill under controlled atmospheric conditions. The system is
modular with different sizes available.
For example, a small vessel would be
used for taking a sample while a much
larger one would be used to discharge
the entire contents of the mill.
This particular mill has a metal-free
configuration with a zirconium oxide
tank and zirconium oxide sleeved arms.
As this equipment is destined for Europe,
it is CE-certified. CW
