AkzoNobel has announced plans to invest more than € 20 million in its organic
peroxide production facilities in Mons,
Belgium, and Houston (Pasadena), Texas,
in the U.S.
In Mons, the company is introducing
new technologies to increase efficiency
at the site, which will result in increased
capacity. The investment is part of a plan
to establish a modern, centralized hub,
which can serve AkzoNobel’s broad base
of European and global customers more
efficiently and effectively.
In Houston, the company is implementing a new site-wide process control system,
which is expected to significantly improve
capacity and operational efficiencies while
positioning the site to meet the increasing
demands of U.S. customers. Embedding efficiencies in the Pasadena operations will
help the company to enhance its competitive position in the region, as well as supporting the manufacturing growth of its
customers in the U.S., specifically in the
Gulf Coast area.
Werner Fuhrmann, AkzoNobel’s
Executive Committee member responsible for Specialty Chemicals, said: “Our
Organic Peroxides business is a reliable performer in AkzoNobel’s specialty
chemicals portfolio. We have many leading market positions and a strong network of operations to meet the demands
of a global marketplace. These targeted
investments are focused on making gains
in many areas, including operational efficiencies, which will help to strongly position our business for further growth in
the polymer industry.”
PPG Announces Partnership
with National Nonprofit
to Support Independent
Dealers
The new PPG Pittsburgh Paints brand
has announced its exclusive paint-brand
partnership with Independent We Stand,
a nonprofit organization dedicated to the
revival of independent, locally-owned and
operated businesses. The PPG Pittsburgh
Paints brand is sold exclusively by inde-
pendent dealers across the U.S., while
the nonprofit group encourages consum-
ers to shop at independent businesses
to help stimulate the economy in their
communities.
“Our partnership with Independent
We Stand demonstrates PPG’s commit-
ment to local, independent dealers,” said
John Trenta, senior brand manager, PPG
Architectural Coatings. “At PPG, we’ve
been working with independent dealers
for more than 100 years, and we’re contin-
ually looking for opportunities to increase
the visibility and support for dealers. This
partnership with Independent We Stand
enables us to do just that.”
Through the PPG Pittsburgh Paints
brand partnership with Independent We
Stand, independent dealers in the U.S.
that sell PPG Pittsburgh Paintsproducts
receive an immediate premium member-
ship to Independent We Stand, which in-
cludes access to its marketing materials,
resources, signage and more.
“We’re excited to partner with the
PPG Pittsburgh Paints brand, which rep-
resents unparalleled quality to indepen-
dent dealers across the U.S.,” said Bill
Brunelle, co-founder, Independent We
Stand. “It makes sense for our two en-
tities to jointly support the growth and
success of independent dealers and the
communities where they operate.”
Prior to 2015, Devoe Paint was the ex-
clusive paint partner of Independent We
Stand. In early 2015, PPG announced the
new PPG Pittsburgh Paints brand, which
combined the Devoe Paint and PPG
Pittsburgh Paints brands into one uni-
fied brand with more than 300 years of
combined experience and heritage. This
new brand offers unparalleled product
quality; over three centuries of combined
expertise, knowledge and service; the best
color program in the business; and an un-
wavering dedication to the independent
paint retailers, independent painters and
independent doers. CW
