Valspar has expanded its profes- sional portfolio of products to include a new line of quality coatings specifically designed for the painting contractor. Professional painters will find an expanded lineup of water-based coatings, including Direct-To-Metal primers and topcoats, Pre-Catalyzed Epoxies, Catalyzed Epoxies, DryFall and a zero-VOC primer.

This new line of professional coatings
is developed for maintenance, commer-
cial and light industrial jobs. The new
product offering includes:
Designed with advanced technology,
Valspar’s new line of Direct-to-Metal
(DTM) primers and topcoats offer pro-
fessional painters high-quality corrosion
protection for metal, which is essential
in tough, industrial environments. The
topcoat is available in two sheens - semi-
gloss and gloss — and can be tinted to a
wide selection of colors. The DTM Primer
is available in three universal colors:
White, Red Oxide and Gray.

For paint jobs that require added durability and low odor, professional painters can now turn to Valspar’s Pre-Catalyzed Wall Epoxy (Pre-Cat). It is an ideal product for institutional jobs, such as hospitals, schools and other areas that require a low-VOC and low-odor paint. Pre-Cat is available in two sheens — semi-gloss and eggshell, and is designed for a smooth, uniformed finish via brush, roll and spray application.

Epoxy delivers excellent washability and
resistance to chemicals and stains. These
are key features needed in active facilities
such as warehouses, locker rooms and
other high-traffic areas. It is available in
two sheens, gloss and eggshell.

The new Valspar Zero VOC primer is designed as a high-quality primer that promotes a uniform topcoat appearance in new construction. It is also Greenguard Gold certified, making it a good choice for use in spaces that are occupied by children or elderly people, such as hospitals, schools, nursing homes and other sensitive environments.

Axalta Introduces Corlar
821CR Epoxy Primer
for Commercial Vehicle
Industry

Axalta Coating Systems has introduced
a new non-sanding, chromate-containing
epoxy primer, Corlar 821CR, for use in
the commercial vehicle industry.
Axalta’s Corlar 821CR Epoxy Primer
may be used by commercial vehicle shops
who desire a product designed for excel-
lent adhesion and corrosion resistance
over metal substrates. This new primer-
sealer should be used with two new acti-
vators, 822S standard and 823S slow, to
help achieve greater application flexibility.

Corlar 821CR Epoxy Primer is recommended for use on OEM replacement parts, properly sanded or prepared steel, aluminum, galvanized steel or stainless steel, and under Axalta commercial vehicle primers and topcoats.

PPG Adds New Primer to
DELFLEET ESSENTIAL Paint
System

The commercial coatings group of PPG
Industries’ automotive refinish busi-
ness has enhanced the DELFLEET
ESSENTIAL commercial paint system
with the addition of ESU480 2.1-VOC
(volatile organic compound) Epoxy
Primer. ESU480 is fully compatible with
Delfleet Essential basecoats and single-
stage topcoats. The new primer features
outstanding versatility and can be used
with an array of substrates such as cold
rolled steel, aluminum, stainless steel,
galvanized steel and galvaneal as well as
enamel surfaces and fiber glass.

ESU480 incorporates advanced technology to provide superior adhesion and resistance to corrosion. It is a gray, thin-film epoxy that lays down easily with no need for sanding. The primer offers a fast recoat time and quick drying that requires as little as 30 minutes before topcoating. Its low 2.1 VOC content makes it compliant for all of the U.S. and Canada. ESU480 is applied in a 4-to-1 mix ratio and has a four-hour potlife.
