coverage of paint and primer in one can
to achieve fast, superior results – even on
plastic, the company stated.
In addition to the new benefits,
ColorMaster maintains its Covermax
technology allows consumers to achieve
better hide without relying on shading or
fillers that can darken or wash out colors. The end result is cleaner, crisper hues,
more brilliant colours and a smoother,
more durable finish.
ColorMaster dries in 10 minutes to
produce a smooth finish and is available
in nearly 100 colors and finishes including enamels, metallics, primers and clears.
It can used on a variety of substrates including metal, wood, plastic, wicker and

Liquid Nails Strengthens its
Heavy Duty Adhesive
Liquid Nails brand has enhanced its
Heavy Duty construction adhesive formula. Liquid Nails Extreme Heavy Duty
Construction Adhesive performs in extreme conditions, bonding in temperatures from 22˚ F to 120˚ F. This enables
professional contractors and DIYers to
work in the extreme heat or cold and get
their jobs done regardless of the weather,
the company reported.
Liquid Nails Extreme Heavy Duty
is a latex-based construction adhesive
designed to provide long-lasting adhe-
sion on a wide range of applications.
Extreme Heavy Duty is certified by UL
Environment to the GREENGUARD
Gold standard as a low emitting material,
U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED
green building programs, including the
LEED v. 4 certification.
Additionally, Extreme Heavy Duty
features a plastic tube for outdoor storage. For professionals who often store
their materials in their exposed truck, this
can save time and worry compared to traditional adhesives.
AkzoNobel Introduces
Intertherm 3350 into the
U.S. Protective Coatings
Market
AkzoNobel’s International brand, a leading provider of protective coatings, linings and fire-protection products, has
introduced Intertherm 3350 into the U.S.
protective coatings market. The innovative thin film spray-applied insulation
coating was specially developed for use in
a wide variety of industrial environments.
As a highly effective, buildable formulation, Intertherm 3350 provides facility
owners with a superior option for protecting personnel from contact with hot
surfaces of up to 350° F (177° C). It is
also a highly efficient insulating material
that delivers excellent heat and energy
conservation, while reducing exposure to
Corrosion Under Insulation (CUI) often
associated with conventional insulation
and cladding systems.
According to Chris McMillan,
AkzoNobel Protective Coatings’ North
American marketing manager, “Unlike
bulkier multi-layer insulation systems be-
ing used in the market, Intertherm 3350
is super lightweight and easy to install.
The coating takes up minimal space, so
coated surfaces can be quickly visually in-
spected. When applied over an approved
anticorrosive primer, Intertherm 3350 of-
fers outstanding long-term corrosion and
Intertherm 3350 can be applied with
standard airless spray equipment in the
desired number of coats to form a con-
tinuous thermal insulation barrier to
the underlying substrate, which brings
hot surfaces down to safe touch tem-
peratures. The coating’s inherent ease of
application also makes the insu-
lation an ideal choice for use in
large and complex work areas.
Sherwin-Williams
Launches Fast Throughput
Polyurethane Pipe Coatings
and Linings
Sherwin-Williams Protective and Marine
Coatings has introduced a line of fast drying, high build, solvent-free polyurethanes
for corrosion protection for the water
conveyance piping market. The chemical and abrasion-resistant Poly-Cote 110
Fast Set, Poly-Cote 110 Rapid Set, Poly-Cote 115 and Poly-Cote 115FR provide
a smooth, glossy finish and offer the hydrophobic properties of an epoxy while
maintaining the durability, flexibility and
fast cure times of a urethane. All products
are NSF certified up to 250 mils. The performance characteristics of the Poly-Cote
line exceed the minimum requirements of
AWWA C222-08, Polyurethane Coatings
for the Interior and Exterior of Steel
Water Pipe and Fittings.
They provide optimal film build and
aesthetic properties, and have a wide
range of acceptable dry film thicknesses
(DFT). Epoxy DFT ranges are commonly
16-50 mils, whereas the Poly-Cote products are 20-500 mils DFT for non-potable
water applications and 20-250 mils DFT
for potable water applications. Poly-Cote
110 Fast Set is a polyurethane coating
formulated for exterior diameter pipe
applications, and has an industry-leading dry-to-handle time of 5-10 minutes.
It can be applied via plural-component
proportioning equipment with direct impingement mixing.
Poly-Cote 110 Rapid Set is designed
for interior diameter pipe applications,
and provides a dry-to-handle time of
20-25 minutes. Its smooth finish is engineered for pipes to achieve better water
transfer. Poly-Cote 115 is a flexible polyurethane coating developed for small fittings, elbows, valves and other tight work
spaces, and provides a 24-hour recoat
window. Convenient for the field, Poly-Cote 115FR comes in an easy-to-use kit
for coating welds and damage repairs. It
can be applied by hand to both exterior
coating and interior lining systems. CW
