Air apparent: The NewAir I.B. Express system is
the latest inflatable cushioning system from
Sealed Air. This versatile packaging system quickly creates Barrier Bubble material that can be
used for cushioning as well as blocking and bracing applications. By quickly creating strong packaging materials on site and on demand, the
NewAir I.B. Express system eliminates the need
to store large amounts of bulky materials.
The compact NewAir I.B. Express system
allows operators to create inflatable Barrier
Bubble cushions with widths of 12 and 24 inches at workstations and a variety of other locations. The system is compatible with a number
of batching options, such as the roll winder
attachment, Instasheeter high-speed converting
system, and Jet Stream delivery system. The
NewAir I.B. Express system also includes options
for film strength. (Sealed Air,

Right-sizing inventory: Supply Chain
Consultants’ newly released Inventory Analyzer
(IA) provides a scientific way to identify pockets
of non-productive inventory so a business can
reduce working capital without jeopardizing its
ability to meet other business goals. This new
inventory management module is part of the
company’s Zemeter family of supply chain management software tools.
The Inventory Analyzer software allows users to
reduce inventories without adversely affecting
customer service. It also provides executives with
a clear, simple “bird’s eye view” of total cash
reductions achievable across materials and plants.
The software updates inventory status continuously and tracks ongoing progress against goals.
Supply Chain Consultants says the IA product can
deliver measurable results within 30 days. (Supply
Chain Consultants, www.supplychain.com)
Adios, shipments: American Airlines Cargo
Division (AA Cargo) now offers daily nonstop
Boeing 767-300 cargo service to Madrid, Spain,
from Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport (DFW).
The service to Madrid’s Barajas International Airport
(MAD) is AA Cargo’s third venture into the Spanish
market, and it complements the carrier’s existing
service between New York and Barcelona and
between Miami and Madrid.
The increased access to Spain is designed to
meet the growing needs of freight forwarders
and create new opportunities for the exchange
of goods between the United States and Europe.
Spain’s Madrid Barajas, the country’s largest and
busiest airport, is located eight miles northeast of
central Madrid. (American Airlines Cargo,

Going vertical: Stanley Vidmar has rebranded its vertical lift
system. Now known as the Vidmar Vertical, this automated
storage and retrieval system can manage up to 132,000
pounds of material from the convenience of one computer
console. The compact storage solution saves time in the storage and retrieval of items and ultimately leads to savings
through more efficient processes. With Vidmar Vertical, a
business can save up to 75 percent of its floor space, according to the company.
Vidmar Vertical increases productivity through faster order
picking and reduced travel distance, and is ergonomically designed to help limit
overreach while lifting. By integrating with host software, the vertical lift system
increases inventory organization and provides access through drawer number, part
number, or part description. (Stanley Vidmar, www.StanleyVidmar.com)
Unlimited mileage: ALK Technologies Inc. has launched PC-Miler|Web, an Internet-based version of its PC-Miler software for owner operators, fleets, brokers, or anyone
else who needs instant, accurate mileage for rate calculation or truck-specific driving
directions and maps. The new service is available on the Web through any Internet-connected computer, in the office, at home, or on the road.
PC-Miler|Web replaces ALK’s Web service, eMiler.com, with upgrades that include
street-level and hazardous materials routing and routes for an unlimited number of
stops. The new service also offers additional reports and mapping functionality. Since
it is hosted on the Internet through a tier-one data center, regular updates are available to all users as they are made at no additional cost.
Pricing for PC-Miler|Web is based on a monthly subscription fee rather than
eMiler’s per-route charges. (ALK Technologies Inc., www.pcmiler.com/web)
