Vision-guided lift trucks: The Raymond Corp., in collaboration
with Seegrid, has developed automated lift trucks that integrate
vision-guided technology—“Guided by Seegrid”—with the company’s vehicles to enable simple flexible automation solutions
without system constraints.
The result is a standard Raymond lift truck with both operator-on and operator-off automated functionality. The technology can
be integrated into a warehouse or distribution center in just a
few hours.
When an operator drives a Raymond lift truck that has a
vision-guided system through a facility, the truck “learns” the
individual steps of the operation it will be performing, such as
transporting a pallet of goods from one location to another. It
can “learn” up to 15 miles of routes in unlimited configurations.
A lift truck equipped with the vision-guided system does not
require lasers, tape, wires, or additional infrastructure. (The

Creform flow racks: Creform Corp. has introduced a new
ergonomic flow rack design. The flow rack provides first-in/first-out (FIFO) product presentation in the ergonomic “strike zone”
(between a worker’s knees and shoulders) and is easily adjusted
to associates’ varying heights.
Creform drop-in low-friction roller tracks are designed to
handle cardboard boxes or totes with soft bottoms or open cell
designs. Each supply lane
features slide pipe presen-
tation positions at the pick-
ing side of the rack, tipping
the box or tote to a steep-
er angle for enhanced
viewing and picking. The
bent pipe side frame
reduces the required num-
ber of metal joints to
assemble the flow rack.
The flow rack capacity
can be changed based on
the pipes and joints used. A
typical capacity is 750 pounds with a 42- by 78-inch footprint.
Higher capacities can be achieved with Creform high-strength
42mm pipe and joints.
Six 4-inch diameter urethane casters (two locking) provide
easy, stable, and safe movement for repositioning. Creform aluminum roller tracks are available in widths of 6, 9, 12, and 15
inches with roller spacing at 1, 2, or 3 inches and lengths of up
to 12 feet. Because it is built using the Creform System of pipe
and joints, the flow rack can be easily modified or customized
using just a few simple tools.
A wide selection of pipe colors allows color-coding by department or function. ESD (anti-static) pipe and joints are available
for static-sensitive assembly situations. The flow racks are available assembled or in kit form. (Creform Corp.,

Hulk Rail Lift: The Kelley Hulk Rail Lift is a self-contained, sur-face-mounted lift designed for facilities requiring versatility in
applications lacking space or the right configuration for a conventional dock lift. The Hulk Rail Lift includes interchangeable
parts, offers smaller platform sizes to fit tighter spaces, and is
both inexpensive to install and easy to relocate.
The device, which is available in 4,000- and 6,000-pound
capacities, includes a 5hp motor for lifting speeds of up to 20
feet per minute and a lifting range of up to 84 inches. The direct-thrust cylinder also provides constant speed through the
full range of travel. Platform sizes for the lift can
be as small as 4 by 5 feet. The lift’s lowered
height is 4. 5 inches, creating a versatile lift for
smaller facilities.
Safety features include a pre-wired NEMA
12 control panel and a
self-contained power
unit, a NEMA 4X hand control,
a velocity fuse on the lift cylinder to prevent uncontrolled descent,
and beveled toe
guards. (Kelley Co.,

JDA Transportation & Logistics Management 6. 3.4: JDA
Software Group Inc. has released JDA Transportation & Logistics
Management 6. 3. 4. The new release, which features products
developed by Manugistics and i2 Technologies, is designed to
help shippers, carriers, and third-party logistics service providers
more effectively manage multimodal logistics network complexities. It includes freight order management and inbound visibility
convergence as well as new functionality to further drive integrated planning and execution.
JDA Transportation & Logistics Management 6. 3. 4 integrates
the Manugistics-developed JDA Freight Order Management solution into a joint platform that leverages synergies between i2 and
Manugistics products. This integration approach enables data
sharing among all JDA Transportation & Logistics Management
solutions and drives a more integrated, closed-loop set of
processes. With JDA Freight Order Management, companies can
obtain visibility into incoming order information. The integrated
solution enables collaboration between vendors and shippers at
the purchase-order level and sends ready-to-ship confirmations
to the JDA Transportation Management system to create an efficient inbound transportation plan.
The new release also introduces several new enhancements,
including the ability to model fixed routes. The JDA solution can
define fixed plans/routes, while also providing the flexibility to
make opportunistic plan modifications as required.
The JDA solution allows users to upload negotiated rates with
leading package delivery companies and import rates from any
source directly into the system to perform freight auditing down
to the container level. It also permits dock scheduling and slot
booking. (JDA Software Group Inc., www.jda.com)
