iBOS basic battery organizing system: Philadelphia Scientific, a
manufacturer of industrial battery components and accessories,
has introduced iBOS basic, the latest addition to its line of intelligent battery organizing systems. The iBOS basic system provides
the same battery management technology and many of the same
features as Philadelphia Scientific’s iBOS Pro but is designed
specifically for small fleet owners and is set at a lower cost.
iBOS basic can manage up to 31 chargers within a single pool
of batteries with the same voltage used for the same type of
forklift truck. Like iBOS Pro, the system instructs operators which
battery to choose based upon which one has had the longest
cool-down time since charging. A backlit display clearly indicates
the number of the battery to take next. If an operator selects an
incorrect battery, a built-in alarm sounds.
The display screen provides detailed information about the
fleet, including the number of batteries presently available, battery availability over the previous 24 hours, the number of batteries selected, and the percentage of incorrect selections. iBOS
basic can be installed by the warehouse’s own staff. (Philadelphia

NxGen Technologies bay lights:
NxGen Technologies Inc. provides
wide-area industrial flood lights
that use LED technology.
Commonly called bay lights, they
are designed to illuminate large
spaces, such as those found in
factories and warehouses.
The bay lights come in three sizes
and use 36, 65, or 102 watts of power while providing 2,150,
4,300, and 7,100 lumens of light, respectively. The lights are
designed to last more than 35,000 hours, which helps hold
down maintenance costs, according to the company.
Unlike fluorescent or sodium-based lights, LED bay lights do
not require ballasts. The lights come in either bracket-mount or
chain-hanging designs. (NxGen Technologies, www.nxgentech-nologies.com)
DCM-Pro Manulift electric chain hoist: Demag’s DCM-Pro
Manulift electric chain hoist is designed to handle loads quickly
and safely with just one hand. Based on Demag’s DC-Pro electric
chain hoist, the DCM-Pro includes a DSM-C control unit that is
securely connected to the hoist with a helical cable and is then
rigidly connected to a variety of load-handling attachments. It
can be operated left-handed or right-handed.
A quick-disconnect coupling allows load-handling attachments to be attached and detached quickly and easily. A universal coupling pin is used to accommodate both Demag and cus-tomer-designed attachments. For added versatility, Manulift load
handling attachments can also be used with Demag’s DC-Pro line
of chain hoists with an easy-to-install adapter.
The DCM-Pro Manulift is available in two models, with load
capacities of 275 pounds and 550 pounds and lift heights of 9
and 14 feet, respectively. The hoists are easily integrated into
Demag KBK crane kit profile sections and I-beams. (Demag

Cargo service to Finland: American Airlines Cargo has
launched a new service into Northern Europe with direct service
between Helsinki, Finland, and Chicago.
The non-stop B767-300 service departs from Chicago daily
with a morning arrival in Helsinki and offers American Airlines’
Expedite and ExpediteTC services. The carrier expects the new
service to be of particular interest to shippers of pharmaceuticals and electronics. (American Airlines Cargo,

Hyster E30-40XN Series lift trucks: Hyster Co.
has unveiled its next generation of electric lift
trucks. The new Hyster E30-40XN series delivers lifting capacities of 3,000 to 4,000 pounds
and offers significant performance and versatility for a wide variety of material handling
applications.
The E30-40XN Series helps to lower
overall operating costs and energy consumption while maximizing productivity, according to Hyster. By utilizing AC motors and
transistor controller technology for both the traction and
hydraulic systems, Hyster has reduced the frequency and cost of
maintenance. The Hyster-designed thermal management system
continuously monitors the truck’s controller and motor temperature. Upon identifying irregularity, the system protects the component by automatically adjusting truck performance.
The series features newly designed operator compartments
with 16 percent more floor space. Multifunction displays have
been relocated to enhance visibility and ensure precise pallet
control. (Hyster Co., www.hyster.com)
