Turret trucks: Crown Equipment Corp. has introduced the
Crown TSP 7000 and TSP 6500 Series turret trucks.
According to Crown, these lift trucks offer fast lift speeds,
high reach, and a high level of operator control and comfort.
Crown says the TSP Series trucks provide faster lift, travel,
pivot, and traverse speeds than conventional trucks. The turret trucks feature a main lift speed of 120 feet per minute—
The Crown TSP Series vehicles can also place most loads at any
height and/or at any open slot, while traveling in a tight aisle with
less than six inches of clearance, according to Crown. The Crown
The trucks feature Crown’s MonoLift mast, which has a boxed-in cross section construction. This design feature reduces twisting and swaying, providing greater stability
and allowing the truck to reach higher heights, according to Crown.
The trucks also have a fully adjustable “MoveControl Seat” with integrated, intuitive
controls built into the armrests. A cold storage cabin can be affixed to the vehicles, allowing the operator to work in temperatures as low as - 40F.
Finally, the Crown TSP Series features regenerative braking and lowering systems that
capture lost energy and return it to the battery. This regenerative technology, combined
with the option to use a larger battery, can help users save energy and improve run time
by 25 percent or more depending on the application. The trucks use some of the largest
batteries available to provide up to 50 percent more power for truck performance and
battery life. The Crown TSP 6500 utilizes 48V batteries, while the Crown TSP 7000 utilizes 80V and 72V batteries. (Crown Equipment Corp., www.crown.com)

RFID solutions: Checkpoint Systems has launched a broad portfolio of solutions to meet
the needs of retailers and vendors that are deploying large-scale RFID initiatives. The portfolio includes three different services for encoding and printing tags, new RFID tags, and
new RFID tag inlays.
Checkpoint System now offers three different ways for its customers to encode and
print their RFID tags: high-speed bulk encoding at the customer’s distribution centers,
encoding and printing services through Checkpoint’s service bureaus, and management
of in-plant encoding and printing.
For companies that want to encode RFID tags at their own distribution centers,
Checkpoint reviews the DC’s existing operations and then implements a high-speed bulk
encoding system that ensures fast and accurate encoding of electronic product code
(EPC) numbers without the need to open boxes and handle individual garments.
Checkpoint can also encode and print RFID tags for its customers at expanded service
bureaus in Asia, Europe, Central America, and North America. Checkpoint encodes
unique EPC numbers, prints variable data on labels in the company’s own print shops,
and then ships the labels to suppliers’ tagging locations worldwide.
Finally, in some cases, apparel brands and closed-loop retailers need to manage the
tagging process from remote locations that may not have reliable Internet service, inhibiting their ability to obtain EPC numbers needed to print and encode RFID on demand.
Checkpoint’s new in-plant services enable companies to locally manage the complete
process, including number serialization and tag printing from these sites.
Checkpoint is now also offering a line of fully integrated RFID tags that combine the
benefits of hard tags with RFID. These tags can provide the same branding information,
tactile qualities, and loss prevention benefits of existing hard tags and apparel labels. At
the same time, they also offer RFID for inventory management and loss prevention.
The company is also now offering three new EPC-compliant tags for use on apparel
merchandise, called High-Kick, Whirl, and Triumph. (Checkpoint Systems, www.check-pointsystems.com) ;
