Inventory optimization software: IBM has introduced a new version of its inventory optimization solution – ILOG Inventory and Product Flow Analyst (IPFA). The latest version of this product includes a new simulation capability that enables companies to analyze safety-stock levels more quickly and efficiently. This capability
helps to ensure that a company’s forecast inventory levels will meet customer
demand. IBM has also enhanced ILOG’s optimization and sensitivity analysis.
Lifting truck and pallet: Created for direct-to-store delivery, the CooLift Delivery System
from Magliner combines a hydraulic lifting
truck with an integrated plastic half pallet.
Orders are built directly onto a CooLift pallet inside the warehouse and then loaded into
trailers using traditional forklifts with CooLift
Pallet Adapters. At the delivery location, drivers use the CooLift truck to move product into
its final destination. Because the CooLift pallets are compact, the driver can move them
through a traditional door, which cannot be
done with full-size pallets.
The CooLift truck features a hydraulic lifting system powered by a 24-volt rechargeable
battery. It is made out of lightweight aluminum and has six rear-swivel, nonmarking
wheels. These features allow the truck to
have 360-degree maneuverability in store
aisles, according to the manufacturer. The
truck has dual hydraulic brakes on the center
wheels and a manual override.
The CooLift pallets are constructed of
high-density polyethylene and are available
in three sizes: 43 inches/1,200 pounds, 48
inches/1,350 pounds, and 53 inches/1,500
pounds. These stackable pallets have a
height of 13. 5 inches, eliminating the need
for drivers to bend down to the floor and
thus decreasing related back injuries.
The CooLift Delivery System comes standard with a one-year warranty from the date of
purchase. (Magliner,

advanced tracking systems, improved visibility,
and safe, reliable coverage at competitive
rates, the company says.

across the following modes: bulk (liquid and
dry), dry van truckload (over-the-road, refrigerated, and intermodal), specialized (flatbeds,
