Collision prevention warning lights:
Collision Sentry can help reduce or eliminate
“blind corner” collisions between forklifts
and pedestrians working in the same area of
the warehouse or DC. The system provides a
visual warning that alerts forklift drivers and
pedestrians to approaching traffic.
Collision Sentry uses infrared motion sen-
sors placed on both sides of the corner to
detect oncoming traffic. When motion is
detected on both sides (meaning a collision is
possible), LED warning lights signal in both
directions. Because the lights flash only when
motion is detected from both directions, they
create a powerful visual warning and fewer
“false reads.”
The Collision Sentry is self-powered with
standard D-cell alkaline batteries, eliminating
the need for wiring to an electrical system.
Batteries are designed to last for one to two
years.
Collision Sentry is easy to install and can
be placed almost anywhere, according to
the company. The device uses magnet
mounts, which allow it to be easily snapped
onto a pallet racking system. A tether is
included with each unit for added fastening
security. (Sentry Protection Products Inc.,

Sorter maintenance software: Automated
material handling solutions provider
Intelligrated has made improvements to its I-Watch sorter maintenance software. The
upgraded I-Watch software enables
Intelligrated technicians to complete regular,
remote analyses of
machine performance and condition
information for
IntelliSort sliding
shoe sorters.
I-Watch now
transmits 145 sorter
performance data
points daily, including wear characteristics
and operational statistics as well as maintenance alarms and events to Intelligrated’s customer service and support team. Technicians
then complete regular reviews of the data to
identify abnormalities, quickly diagnose and
resolve problems, and advise customer maintenance teams on steps they can take to maximize system utilization and extend the life of
each sorter.
I-Watch looks at trends in equipment performance over time and provides predictive
information about sorter component wear
and oil consumption. (Intelligrated,

Light pointer for VLMs: The new QuickPick Light Pointer technology from Kardex
Remstar works with the company’s Shuttle Vertical Lift Module (VLM), a storage system with arranged trays, a workstation, and computerized controls.
The light pointer consists of an LED or laser light mounted to a slider that moves
horizontally on a guiding system. Located above the access opening in a Shuttle
VLM, it helps the operator find the exact part to be picked, increasing pick accuracy. (Kardex Remstar, www.KardexRemstar.com)
