Power up at WERC
The Warehousing Education and Research Council’s (WERC) 2014 Annual
Conference, slated for April 27–30 in Chicago, is designed to energize attendees and spark new ideas. So it makes sense that the keynote presenters would
include motivational speaker Chris Helder, who will talk about how to create
momentum in business and personal life, and Dan Thurmon, who will offer
ideas on how to achieve meaningful and satisfying work/life integration.
The rest of the educational program is dedicated to providing attendees with
practical takeaways they can apply in their own companies. Sessions will cover
such topics as equipment, metrics, outsourcing, human resources, process management, real estate, information systems, and warehouse operations. Facility
tours and peer-to-peer discussion groups round out the educational program.
The concurrent WIRE trade show will run April 28–29. More information at
www.werc.org.
Now that it’s been 20 years since the North American Free Trade Agreement
(NAFTA) took effect, what’s next for North American trade? Find out at the
12th Annual Transplace Shipper Symposium May 12–14 in Dallas.
At this shipper-focused event, former president of Mexico Vicente Fox,
former White House senior economic adviser Todd Buchholz, and Mexico
Institute economist Christopher Wilson as well as leading supply chain and
transportation experts will address economic and supply chain issues such as
Mexico’s economic and transportation infrastructure and supply chain trends
in Canada. Other sessions will address capacity constraints, regulatory changes,
and network optimization.
Transplace, a third-party logistics and technology company, says the conference will provide attendees with information that will help them operate more
efficiently and cut transportation costs. More information at http://symposium.

effectively operate in an omnichannel environment supported by Manhattan
Associates’ software. Track topics include inventory optimization, labor management and slotting optimization, order management, warehouse management,
