Video-based tech support: EYE4U from
material handling systems supplier Vanderlande
Industries is a real-time video-based technical
support tool that streams live images from a
work site to the company’s technical support
hotline and help desk.
EYE4U is wearable video technology that
uses a hands-free, head-mounted video camera; a hip-mounted recorder; and two-way
communication. It allows customers to show
help desk technicians exactly what they are
looking at as they describe their problem. Users
can then follow live instructions from the help
desk specialist and demonstrate the results of
any actions taken. The head-worn camera unit
is light and compact, and the recorder allows
up to nine hours of recording. The system also
includes a wireless remote control.
All live video and image streaming is encrypted for secure communication and can only be
accessed by authorized help desk specialists.
EYE4U’s live images save time in diagnosing
and correcting situations, improving uptime
and increasing material handling system availability. The images also help to prevent language problems and avoid communication
misunderstandings.

Warehouse control system: The new Dematic
iQ software platform can provide distribution
center managers with information well beyond
that offered by traditional warehouse control
systems, allowing what Dematic calls “knowl-
edge-based logistics optimization.”
The software platform makes use of
advanced analytics to provide real-time visibility
and control, Dematic says, enabling users to
make management decisions anywhere from
the DC floor to headquarters.
Dematic iQ integrates with the company’s
Sprocket maintenance management software
to provide visibility into both equipment functioning and order management. Dematic iQ is
designed to help manage operations ranging
from manual processes to those that are fully
automated, the company says. It is built on an
open architecture and can integrate easily with
existing infrastructures for access to logistics,

Pallet truck: Hyster has introduced its all-new W45ZHD
heavy-duty walkie pallet truck for warehousing and
distribution centers as well as in-store use. With its
heavy-duty fork frame and linkage with HTX bushings,
the truck is specifically designed for harsh environments.
Hyster offers a lifetime frame warranty; a one-year,
unlimited-hour basic warranty; and a three-year, 6,000-
hour powertrain warranty.
The W45ZHD walkie is available with Hyster’s
patented Intelligent Lift feature, which allows
operators to simultaneously transport and lift
pallets, thereby improving operator productivity
by up to 25 percent, the manufacturer says. Trucks
equipped with this technology automatically lift the
pallet to the maximum fork height, without the operator’s continually having to hold the lift button during transport. Another exclusive
option is Intelligent Slow Down, which recognizes when the operator turns the
truck during cornering and automatically decreases speed. An unusual feature
is the high-frequency smart charger mounted on the pallet truck. Operators can
