Smart Sensing Technology protects against
false fill signals and premature watering,
minimizing boilovers. This model is ideal for
batteries that do not leave the truck or for
batteries that are charged on multilevel racks,
the company says. For such applications, the
indicator LED can be edge-mounted for high
visibility.
The Smart Blinky is similar to the Smart
Blinky Remote in that it features red and green
flashing LEDs in a single housing to indicate
that a battery needs watering or is OK. The
new LEDs are eight times brighter than the
previous model. The improved Smart Blinky
also features Smart Sensing Technology.
For its part, the original watering monitor,
Blinky Basic, now boasts a green light that is
twice as bright as the previous model. It flashes steadily when electrolyte levels are OK and
goes out when water is needed.
According to the company, the monitors
are more robust and feature an installation “forgiveness zone,” which reduces the
potential for damaging the monitors due to
improper installation. (Philadelphia Scientific,

Warehouse management system: Supply
chain management software developer
HighJump has announced that its AccellosOne
warehouse management system (WMS) now
features expanded e-commerce functionality
to help customers increase supply chain efficiency and accuracy.
The rapid growth of online retailing has
resulted in many operational challenges for
traditional retailers and wholesale distributors, the company says. To address these challenges, the AccellosOne WMS now includes
enhanced e-fulfillment order processing functionality to streamline high-volume Internet
retail operations.
The WMS system is designed to help reduce
picker travel time with a unique process for
wave-planning that groups batch picks by
item proximity; to reduce order preparation
time with 100-percent paper-free picking,
while maintaining full item visibility throughout the order lifecycle; and to optionally
predefine packing stations based on unique
variables such as pack size or order profile.
AccellosOne also allows the elimination
of PCs during packing, which means that
stations can be created on the fly to meet
demand and that workload can be redistributed. If the desired process includes end-of-line packing slip creation after the order
is picked, print latency is eliminated using
proprietary “print and store” technology.

Battery watering monitor: Philadelphia Scientific has introduced its improved
line of Blinky battery watering monitors. The monitors all have brighter LED lights,
two to eight times brighter than the previous models, making them more visible to
forklift operators and battery room personnel.
The Blinky family features three battery watering monitors that are UL classified.
The Smart Blinky Remote has green and red LEDs contained in a single housing that
are six times brighter than the previous model. Smart Blinky Remote steadily flashes
green when electrolyte levels are OK. When electrolyte levels are low, the red LED
flashes rapidly, providing clear indication that watering is required. The monitor’s
