Integrated drive system: Siemens Industry
Inc. has released new combination motor/
drive packages that allow OEMs or end-users
to select the optimal solution for a variety of
heavy-duty industrial motion control applications from a single source. Choosing from a
predetermined list of motor/drive combinations, the customer simply makes the selection best suited to the application. The motor
and drive are packaged on a single pallet,
shipped, and invoiced together.
The motor and drive combinations are pow-er-matched for 480V high-overload operation
through a 20-horsepower range, with protection from thermal damage provided as standard in both the motor and the drive components. The Siemens
Intelligent Operator
Panel (IOP) is included
with these packages,
allowing easy step-by-step drive startup.
Application macros
are provided in the
Sinamics G120C drive
for easy installation
and wiring; the terminals are pre-assigned
at the factory and the parameters are automatically set. The Simotics SD100 motors are
rugged cast-iron with inverter duty ratings in
a 4: 1 speed range for constant torque and
20: 1 speed range for variable torque. Simotics
SD100 units are severe-duty TEFC motors that
meet NEMA Premium efficiency. (Siemens,

Handheld scanner: Denso ADC, a maker of
mobile data capture systems, has introduced
the GT20 Series bar-code terminals. The scanners are light, weighing only 180 grams ( 2. 8
ounces), and are designed for use in dusty
or wet conditions and extreme temperatures
ranging from - 4 to 122 F.
Available in 1-D and 2-D models, the GT20
is designed for precise, high-speed reading
and accurate data capture even when codes
are dirty or blurred. The scanner also reads
codes displayed on liquid crystal screens,
such as computers and smart devices; offers
confirmation by light, sound, or vibration;
and has photo capability for capturing and
transmitting images on the spot when more
product verification is needed.
The GT20 scanners incorporate advanced
technology for easy data transmission to
smart devices and are equipped with a sturdy
locking cord connector so they remain securely attached to their power source during operation. (Denso ADC, denso-adc.com/products/

Automated guided vehicle: AutoGuide has introduced the TV1000, a low-profile
automated guided vehicle (AGV) that tunnels under its loads to optimize assembly
line processes and lean manufacturing.
The AutoGuide TV1000 transports materials through pickup and delivery routines. Its low profile allows it to tunnel under a cart, automatically hitch to it, and
move it along a magnetic path. The computer-controlled unit features a modular
design that allows for configurations that result in easier handling, more cost-efficient maintenance, and arrangements that can be switched to precisely fit specific
needs. (AutoGuide, www.AutoGuideAGVs.com)
