Battery chargers: Delta-Q Technologies
has introduced two new IC Series bat-tery-charging solutions for use in electric vehicles and industrial equipment,
the IC900 and IC1200. The new battery
chargers can charge either lead acid
(wet/flooded, sealed absorbent glass
mat, or gel) or lithium-ion batteries and can be used in electric lift trucks and automated
guided vehicles (AGVs), floor-care machines, aerial-work platforms, and utility vehicles.
According to Delta-Q, the IC Series chargers are designed to maximize equipment uptime.
The chargers’ ingress protection seals out dirt and fluids and helps resist factors such as
vibration, shock, and temperature extremes.
IC Series chargers store charge-cycle data, which is accessed using a built-in USB host port.
Through the host port, software updates and new charge profiles can be installed using a
preprogrammed USB flash drive.
All IC Series chargers have a wide AC input range and are usable on any single-phase
electrical grid worldwide. (Delta-Q Technologies, www.delta-q.com)
Wireless scale forks: The Ravas iForks line of wireless scale forks for counter balance, reach,
and narrow-aisle lift trucks has been expanded to include a model with an extra-thin profile.
The new Ravas iForks XT Pro models are ideal for third-party logistics, warehousing, and
freight applications, according to the company.
The forks measure 1. 9 inches thick by 6. 4 inches wide and fit easily into the notched four-way side of a Grocery Manufacturers Association (GMA) pallet.
The wireless scale forks are currently available in a 5,000-pound capacity at 42-inch and
48-inch lengths. Longer lengths and higher capacities are also under development. The addition of an iForks XT Pro mobile scale on a forklift allows two important tasks—transporting
and weighing—to be accomplished simultaneously. It is no longer necessary to drive every
pallet or container back and forth to a fixed floor scale. (Ravas USA, www.ravasusa.com)
Cold chain app: DHL Global Forwarding, the air and ocean freight specialist of the Deutsche
Post DHL Group, has introduced its new LifeTrack mobile app. The free application grants
users on-the-go access to DHL’s proprietary online cold chain tracking and management
platform, Life Track. It provides customers in the life sciences and health-care industry with
an overview of their shipments, alerts about any in-transit issues (such as temperature excursions), and round-the-clock access to DHL’s cold chain experts. The Life Track mobile app is
available for iOS and Android systems.
The application shows shipment details, including routing, movement milestones, and
potential interventions. Upon completion of key logistical events or detection of potential
irregularities, the app informs the user and provides details about any measures being taken.
In case further support is needed, DHL’s cold chain advisers can be contacted 24/7 directly
from the app. (DHL Global Forwarding, www.dpdhl.com)
Self-driving warehouse robot: Clearpath Robotics,
a field and service robotics company, has introduced
its first self-driving warehouse robot: Otto. Otto is
designed for intelligent heavy-load transport in industrial environments.
Otto uses the same underlying self-driving technology popularized by the Google self-driving car. Otto
does not rely on external infrastructure for navigation, making implementation hassle-free and scalable,
Applications for Otto include moving pallets in a warehouse or cross-dock and kitting or
assembly line delivery. Otto units are currently deployed in five test facilities.
A video of Otto and a webinar invitation to learn more about the technology are
available here: www.clearpathrobotics.com/introducing-otto/. (Clearpath Robotics, www.
