Battery pack: Applied Energy
Solutions’ LithPack lithium ion battery
pack was designed with a proprietary
battery management system to use with
an onboard charger in a 110-volt plug, so
that no facility modifications are needed.
According to the company, the LithPack
charges more efficiently than lead acid and
requires no cooldown period.
The LithPack active cell-balancing feature shuttles the power between cells
within the overall pack, keeping the overall
pack’s charge and discharge capabilities
operating at each individual cell’s highest
performance without the weakest cell in
the pack drawing down overall performance. The high-current active balancing
of the LithPack battery management system enables the lithium cells to last longer
and have larger available discharge windows as they age.
LithPack will charge to 100 percent in
under four hours with no negative “
memory effects,” does not need watering, and
will not be damaged from being partially
charged. This all happens inside a fully
encapsulated, water-resistant, air-cooled

Modular battery chargers: Power
Designers’ Revolution series is a line of
ultra-high-frequency battery chargers that
incorporates modular power design that
delivers efficiencies greater than 90 percent throughout the entire charge cycle.
As the charge cycle progresses and the
output current tapers down, the charger
will turn off unneeded modules, allowing
the remaining modules to operate at peak
efficiency.
According to the company, the
Revolution chargers save money by using
less electricity to do the same amount of
work as other chargers. Batteries charged
by the Revolution series take less time to
charge because less energy is being wasted and more power is being transferred
into the battery. Other chargers boast
high peak efficiency levels—meaning at
one time during the charge, the charger
hit that efficiency—while the Revolution
series continues to charge at efficiencies
greater than 90 percent during the entire
charge cycle, resulting in true energy savings over other high-frequency chargers,

High-speed label printer: Weber has introduced the L-A 6000 label printer applicator, which is designed for high-speed distribution center labeling.
The system is able to print and apply labels to cartons of various heights on the
fly, which makes it a good fit for production lines that handle address labeling for
different-sized packages. The L-A 6000 features interchangeable dispensing heads
that allow the use of different label sizes, as well as print engines by leading manufacturers such as Zebra and Sato, which enables an optimal match to the application and its specific printing requirements (thermal-transfer or direct-thermal).
