Magnetic speed controller: Interroll has unveiled its new patented MSC 50 (magnetic speed controller).
Developed in response to demand for more efficient and
cost-effective material handling systems, Interroll’s MSC 50 is
easy to install and maintenance-free, while offering a host of
useful features that together deliver process reliability and attractive ROI, the company says. Suitable for handling goods weighing
between one and 77 pounds, the innovative system ensures
lightweight packages move smoothly, while limiting the speed of
heavy goods traveling along the conveyor. These features make
the MSC 50 well suited for
warehousing, e-commerce,
postal service, food, and pharmaceutical operations, as well
as for customers that use flow
racks for heavy containers.
According to the company, the MSC 50 is the most
cost-effective solution currently on the market for controlling
the speed of boxes and plastic trays traveling on gravity roller
conveyors and spirals or the end sections of sorters. (Interroll,

Parcel singulator: Beumer Group’s new Automatic Parcel
Singulator transforms a bulk flow of parcels into a flow in which
each parcel is uniformly separated, spaced, and aligned before
the in-feed to the automated induction of a high-speed loop sort-
er. With the capability to handle a wide variety of postal items,
the Automatic Parcel Singulator provides a single system for
handling parcels, flats, totes, and sealed bags from the collection
and distribution sorting areas.
As a fully automated system, the Automatic Parcel Singulator
minimizes the need for manual handling and supervision during
normal operation. The parcels are transported from the bulk
in-feed area to the singulator by feed lines, which can be fitted
with fully automatic container tippers, boom conveyors, and loading conveyors. The seamless integration of the singulator into a
loop sortation system enables a pull system that adjusts the flow
of parcels to meet changing levels of demand at the induction,
according to the manufacturer.
As the parcels leave the Automatic Parcel Singulator’s offset
rollers, they continue onto a conveyor for double detection data
capture before entering the automatic induction of the loop
sorter. The double detection system automatically checks the
dimensions of each parcel for items that are over-length, over-height, or of an abnormal shape, such as double parcels. Items
that are detected as out of gauge are automatically removed
from the main flow via a dynamic, high-speed vertical diverter
that is optimized to match the speed of the conveyor, the company says.
The high level of configuration flexibility means that the
Automatic Parcel Singulator can be retrofitted into the induction
of an existing loop sorter or integrated into a new parcel handling
system. (Beumer Group, www.beumergroup.com)
