Digital workspace platform: Mobile computer and device manufacturer Honeywell is now an authorized reseller of VMWare’s
digital workspace platform, Workspace One. As part of the
arrangement, Honeywell will offer Workspace One on its Mobility
Edge mobile computers and devices. The platform will be included on additional Honeywell devices in the future.
Workspace One is a workspace platform that delivers and
manages any app on any device by integrating access control,
application management, and unified endpoint management.
Workspace One makes it easier to enroll and configure applications on mobile devices, provides complete app lifecycle management, and proactively supports and remotely troubleshoots
devices in the field. It also ensures that robust security measures
are in place.
This reseller agreement is a continuation of a long-standing
relationship between Honeywell and VMware. The two companies have previously collaborated to deliver a cloud-based
management solution for ruggedized devices. Workspace One
will soon be offered in the Honeywell Marketplace (marketplace.
honeywell.com), an enterprise app store designed to provide
businesses with direct access to software and solutions developed by Honeywell and third-party developers. (VMware, www.

Ocean-container tracking solution: Haven Inc. has created a
standalone, cloud-based version of its Track and Trace solution
that allows any shipper, freight forwarder, trader, or broker to
track its ocean cargo from the point of origin to final destination
in real time. The solution allows users to see all their shipments
in one place without having to search multiple websites or license
complex software platforms.
The new product is built around Haven’s ability to harmonize
the formats of externally collected data, along with proprietary
automated identification system (AIS) vessel data the company collects in real time. The service can provide data from 65
ocean carriers, and customers can sign up to receive data from
1,200 additional logistics services providers and air and surface
transportation carriers utilizing the company’s API (application
programming interface).
At this time, the new Track and Trace solution only supports ocean container visibility. But the company says it will be
adding air, rail, and intermodal tracking services soon. Haven is
currently offering a free 30-day trial of the solution. (Haven Inc.,

Blockchain platform: Trace Register is adding blockchain to its
full-chain traceability (FCT) platform for the seafood supply chain.
Blockchain is an extremely powerful technology that adds
trust in full-chain traceability. It can ensure data is not altered
as it moves between trading partners and different traceability
systems, while still protecting data confidentiality.
But blockchain alone is not enough to meet the full-chain
traceability requirements that governments, industry, and consumers are demanding of seafood supply chains, as it cannot
ensure that data is valid. To assess whether data is valid, Trace
Register’s full-chain traceability platform uses continuous monitoring and continuous auditing (CMCA). According to Trace
Register, it is the only solution that combines blockchain and
CMCA for the seafood industry.
Trace Register plans to make blockchain available to its customers on an opt-in basis. (Trace Register, www.traceregister.com)
Rugged storage containers: Rack and storage
container manufacturer Steel King Industries
Inc. has introduced a line of rugged industrial storage containers designed to provide a
long-lasting, economical product for a wide
range of heavy-duty storage applications. Built
to last for up to 30 years, Steel King containers are suitable for
sheet metal, steel parts, and ammunition storage as well as the
storage of recycled materials, automotive parts, and all manner
of work-in-process applications.
The new line include round-corner corrugated steel containers,
heavy-duty rigid bulk storage containers, “workingtainers” that
double space utilization by turning work areas into storage, a
stow-gate container that adapts easily to multiple configurations,
and a Hold ’n Fold design that can be stored or staged ready for
use on the floor. (Steel King, www.steelking.com)
Port and terminal tires: Finland-based tire manufacturer Nokian
Heavy Tyres has introduced new sizes to its Nokian HTS G2 E- 4
tire family—the 14.00-24 and 16.00-25—to improve the stability
of container-handling equipment and forklifts.
The Nokian HTS G2 series of port and terminal tires has been
designed with high stability and load-bearing capacity in mind.
Particular attention has been paid to the tire flexing area, which
benefits from the special shock-absorbing rubber compound
used in the tire carcass. (Nokian Tyres, www.nokiantyres.com)
