Rugged touch computer: Janam Technologies LLC, a provider
of rugged mobile computers that scan bar codes and communicate wirelessly, has launched the ultra-rugged, ultra-compact XT2
touch computer. Designed for use in challenging environments,
the new XT2 is a rugged mobile computer engineered to provide
maximum uptime, reliability, and accuracy.
As the lightest and most rugged device in its class, the
Android-powered XT2 is equipped with the latest technological
advancements to enable mobile workers in field service, direct
store delivery, retail, and transportation and logistics to do their
jobs more effectively and efficiently.
The XT2 rugged mobile computer is the only device in its class
to run the Android 5 Lollipop operating system and is certified
by Google to support all Google APIs, including Google Play.
Weighing only 10 ounces and featuring a five-inch touchscreen
strengthened with Corning Gorilla Glass 3, the XT2 provides
maximum durability and an optimized balance between screen
viewability and device weight and size. In order to help mobile
workers save time and make better-informed decisions in the
field, the XT2 offers dual-band 802.11a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0,
and 4G LTE connectivity for on-the-go access to business-critical
information.
The XT2 can withstand 5-foot/1.5-meter drops to concrete
on all sides across a wide temperature range per MIL-STD 810G
standards, the manufacturer says. It is sealed to IP67 standards
to provide protection from dust and survive immersion in up to
three feet of water. (Janam Technologies LLC, www.janam.com)
Box trucks: Akro-Mils has
introduced new steel box
trucks with counterbalanced gas springs. Designed
to enhance ergonomics
and safety, the trucks’ gas
springs allow the steel lid
to lift easily and not fall
back down. The box trucks,
which come in four sizes,
are also available with a
chain closure option. Lids
accommodate padlocks for
added security.
Akro-Mils’ all-welded
steel box trucks are ideal for frequent loading and unloading of
parts, supplies, or scrap, according to the company. The trucks
are powder-coated for durability and corrosion resistance. Solid-sided trucks (interior dimensions: 30. 5 inches high by 24 inches
deep) have 13-gauge steel sides and two-inch hemmed edges.
Mesh-sided trucks ( 31. 5 inches high by 25 inches deep) are made
from #13 expanded metal with a 1.5-inch by 1.5-inch by one-eighth-inch angle frame.
Akro-Mils’ box trucks are equipped with two swivel and two
rigid casters. Five-inch polyolefin casters support the vehicle’s
1,800-pound weight capacity. (Akro-Mils, www.akro-mils.com)
