When you can fill your trailers higher,
which way do you think your profits will go?
ORBIS Small-Format pallets carry the same size load as a standard
pallet, while occupying a smaller footprint in your trailers. The 42”x 30”
footprint increases order stack height, offering a more economical
delivery solution for reduced case orders. With pallets packed-out
higher, instead of wider, your trailer density will increase and so will
your profit margins. Contact us to learn more.

Tracking unit: Lat-Lon has introduced its
Compact Tracking Unit (CTU) for shipment
monitoring applications. A small solar-pow-ered tracking device, the CTU is designed to
fit in small spots, even in the grooves of a
container or other nonpowered asset.
The Compact Tracking Unit possesses many
of the same capabilities as the larger Solar-Powered Tracking Unit (STU) used by shippers
around the globe. Both Lat-Lon tracking units
incorporate lithium iron phosphate rechargeable cells, delivering a long lifecycle product,
averaging over seven years. The solar panels,
energy storage, and power circuitry are optimized for lower voltage, allowing the CTU to
operate its GPS module 24/7 under typical
conditions for location and speed awareness.
And in less than ideal conditions, these developments allow for up to five days of messages with no direct or indirect sunlight.
The Compact Tracking Unit has been
designed with the most recent firmware from
STU with over 15 years of success. As with the
STU, the Compact Tracking Unit will continue
Lat-Lon’s practice of supporting over-the-air
firmware updates to improve performance
and add features even after the equipment is
deployed. With a secure website, desktop and
mobile apps for Android and iOS, or direct
software integration options, monitoring a
fleet continues to get easier. (Lat-Lon LLC,

Freight management system: LaneAxis, a
San Diego-based company, has launched a
virtual freight management system that gives
shippers unprecedented end-to-end visibility
and control over their freight. The desktop
and mobile app delivers real-time analytics
and insights that eliminate the need for error-prone manual reporting. By utilizing real-time Internet and mobile GPS data, LaneAxis
renders obsolete old and unreliable trucking
technology such as EDI.
The simple-to-use app enables shippers to
view and manage their cargo in absolute real
time, from pre-pickup to final delivery. The
app’s ability to match shippers and carriers
also benefits the environment by reducing the
number of empty trucks (“dead-head loads”)
on the highways.
In addition, LaneAxis automates many
tedious but crucial processes, such as ensuring carrier and driver compliance with all
insurance and federal safety regulations,
including the Hours-of-Service rule. As its
network expands, the company says carriers
will be able to better forecast their moves,
gain discounts on fuel and tires, and save on
other costs. (LaneAxis, www.LaneAxis.com)
Rate optimizer: SynchroNet Intermodal Services Inc. (SIS) has introduced RateNow!,
an enhanced rate optimizer that simplifies and expedites the pricing process for
SIS customers. This unique Web-based rate optimizer, which provides intermodal
ISO spot pricing for all single origin/destination door moves in three simple steps,
requires only that the customer enter the origin and destination to return all container sizes where capacity is available. RateNow! checks more than 7 million rates
within tariffs and reviews 10 billion routing options across all lanes to ensure the
customer receives the most competitive and cost-effective rate quote possible.
