Bar-code scanner batteries: Impact
Power Technologies (IPT) has introduced its
Productivity+ Series, long-lasting batteries for
bar-code scanners. IPT’s new technology lasts
through a full shift or longer and guarantees
double the lifespan of OE batteries, the company says.
Virtually all retail, wholesale, or manufacturer distribution centers use bar-code scanners,
and each one continuously purchases replacement batteries for those devices as standard
operating procedure. While that’s a necessary
expense, companies can suffer huge losses in
productivity and waste thousands of dollars
on excessive battery replacements. IPT says its
Productivity+ Series offers an alternative power
source that costs the same or even less than the
OEM, yet eliminates these sacrifices by delivering uninterrupted power and an extended
life span. (Impact Power Technologies, www.

AC line regenerative system: Digital power
and motion control systems provider Magnetek
Inc. has added the Impulse R+ to its high-performance series of AC line regenerative systems.
The new Impulse R+ line regenerative unit
was designed to increase the energy efficiency
of overhead cranes. Available with ratings from
five to 400 horsepower, the Impulse R+ connects to a network, via ethernet and a PLC, to
monitor status in real time. The unit is simple
to install and can be easily retrofitted to replace
dynamic braking units and resistors on existing
controls. Wiring and maintenance generally
associated with traditional dynamic braking
resistors is eliminated.
Magnetek’s AC line regenerative units capture surplus regenerative energy from the motor
that would normally be expended by resistors
and return it to the AC power source, reducing
total energy consumption and creating indus-try-leading gains in energy efficiency. Initial
investment “payback” can be realized in as
little as one year, the company says. (Magnetek

Dubai freight service: iContainers has redesigned its website to allow customers to obtain
door-to-door ocean freight quotes between
the U.S., Spain, or Taiwan and Dubai.
Through iContainers’ unique API, importers
and exporters can obtain all shipping rate information, including trucking fees, freight costs,
and customs clearance at both export and
import ports; customize shipping routes based
on timing, rates, and other preferences; and
book online in seconds. (iContainers, www.

Automated guided vehicle: Egemin has
introduced a second attachment for its
E’gv Compact Tugger automated guided
vehicle’s base, the Counterbalance Fork.
The E’gv Compact product line’s economical models are designed to work in many
common material handling areas and can
replace manual trucks to reduce product
damage and increase throughput.
The Counterbalance Fork model has a lift
capacity of 2,500 pounds ( 1,134 kilograms)
and is ideal for simple moves throughout a
facility, such as single-height racking, empty
pallet storage, palletizer pick and drop, dropping on stands, and floor storage.
Since it can be intermingled with standard or custom E’gvs in existing or new
systems installed by Egemin, it can save time and money: The standard or custom
vehicles can do the complex tasks such as trailer loading and unloading, and the
E’gv Compact Counterbalance Fork vehicle can move those loads from the floor
to an inbound conveyor or storage.
The E’gv Compact Counterbalance Fork vehicle has a standard mast height of
96 inches ( 2,438 millimeters) with a top lift stroke of 66 inches ( 1,676 millimeters).
An optional low-clearance mast is available at an 80-inch ( 2,032 millimeter) mast
height. Two different fork lengths are available: 42 inches ( 1,066 millimeters) and
48 inches ( 1,219 millimeters). This vehicle fully complies with the ANSI and EN
safety specifications for automated guided vehicles, the company says. (Egemin
