Work Assist vehicle for high places: Crown
Equipment Corp. has introduced the Crown
WAV 60, a Work Assist vehicle designed with
features to help achieve a greater level of
safety, efficiency, and flexibility for applications
where ladders are typically used to access high
places, such as those found in retail and manufacturing settings.
Better known as the Wave, the vehicle
is ideal for workers receiving, shipping, and
stocking/shelving small loads and/or products
in busy, confined
spaces, as well as
order picking and
order fulfillment. It
can travel and lift
simultaneously so
operators can move
efficiently around a
facility while raising
and lowering to the
appropriate heights
in one smooth,
seamless operation.
The Wave’s AC drive motors and controls
increase travel speeds to 5 mph and provide
more responsive acceleration and maneuverability. The on-board operating system enables
optimum performance and control through
intelligent coordination of operator prompts,
lift/lower operations, steering and braking, and
other vehicle systems.
The Crown WAV 60, which can be easily
charged via a standard 110V power outlet,
offers a number of safety features designed
to help ensure operator safety while boosting
ease of work and productivity. Those features
include hand sensors to ensure operators have
both hands inside the vehicle and on the
controls during operation; interlocking gates
that must be closed to raise or lower the platform when the platform is at a height above
20 inches; safety sensors below the platform
that disable raise, lower, and travel functions
if someone or something is obstructing the
motor cover; and dual foot pedals with built-in sensors to ensure operators have both feet
properly positioned on the platform.
The Wave load tray supports up to 200
pounds, while the load deck holds up to 250
pounds. An optional powered-load tray features infinitely variable positions that allow
operators to easily make height adjustments for
flexibility with any load. The Wave can also be
used with a range of Work Assist accessories,
such as clip pads, mast storage pockets, and
accessory mounts. (Crown Equipment Corp.,

RFID tags: GAO RFID Inc. has introduced a complete family of mount-on-metal
UHF EPC Gen2 extreme temperature-, humidity-, and impact-resistant RFID tags.
Included in this family of UHF tags is the fastenable on-metal tag, the paperclip-sized small on-metal tag, and the waterproof razor on- or off-metal tag. These
can be used for applications requiring the identification, tracking, and monitoring
of metallic assets.
The fastenable and flame retardant UHF on-metal tag is built to withstand
temperatures of up to 392 degrees F (200 degrees C) and features two holes for
easy mounting with rivets or other fasteners. The larger size of the tag provides a
read distance of more than 16 feet ( 5 meters) and a single hole that can be used
for hanging on an asset using a fastener. To further meet customer requirements,
a paperclip-sized version and ultra-thin version of the tag with a one-eighth-inch
( 3. 2 millimeter) thickness are available. Thinner and shorter tags are valuable in
environments where a lower profile is needed. All tags support one- and two-dimensional bar-code printing.
The magnetic on-metal tag features two small magnets for easy attachment
and removal from metal assets. When mounted on metal, it has a read distance
of 13 feet ( 4 meters). The longer razor on-metal tag has a read distance of up to
26 feet ( 8 meters) on nonmetal and up to 20 feet ( 6 meters) on metal. (GAO RFID
