Shorter mast option for forklifts: Material handling equipment maker Crown Equipment Corp. has introduced a new shorter mast option for certain models of its counterbalance forklifts that are heavily used in cross-docking applications.

The new two-stage TL mast, commonly referred to as a “Truckers Mast,” is an option for the four-wheel Crown FC 5200 Series counterbalance forklifts and the pneumatic- and cushion-tire models of the Crown C- 5 Series industrial forklifts. The company says the new model is ideal for use in warehouse dock work and cross-docking applications, where a shorter mast is advantageous for forklifts deployed for removing and placing loads in truck trailers.

The mast is available in lift heights of 68, 76,

80, 82, and 112 inches, with no change in the maximum load capacities of the forklifts.

The Crown FC 5200 and Crown C- 5 Series both support load capacities ranging from 4,000

to 6,500 pounds. The Crown FC 5200 electric forklift is built with a strong durable frame and powertrain to handle a variety of loads. It’s designed to give operators the strength, stability, and maneuverability they need to lift heavy loads in tight spaces and on crowded docks.

Featuring a 2.4-liter LPG engine, the Crown C- 5 is a forklift that can be used in indoor and outdoor environments where conditions may be unpredictable or harsh. (Crown Equipment Corp., www.crown.com)

Upgraded WMS for 3PLs: Cloud-based warehouse management systems (WMS) provider

3PL Central has released SmartView, the next generation of its warehouse management platform, 3PL Warehouse Manager. Created to help 3PLs (third-party logistics service providers)

better meet the needs of their customers, the SmartView experience includes a modern user interface, intelligent workflow capabilities, and a host of new features and functionalities all deployed utilizing a new Rest (representational state transfer) application programming interface (API).

Scanning case for Android: Scandit has released the Scandit Case for Android, a scanning case for select Android devices that provides an alternative to traditional bar-code scanners. The ergonomically designed protective case offers a scanning experience superior to traditional handheld scanners and mobile computers at a fraction of the cost, the company says.

When users download the Scandit Keyboard Wedge scanning app to a select Android device and configure it for the Scandit Case, the smartphone becomes an enterprise-grade bar-code scanner right out of the box with no programming or integration required.

Wireless controls: Magnetek, a supplier of digital power and motion control systems for the material handling industry, has introduced its Flex EX2 wireless controls. These next-generation rugged wireless controls are ideal for use in material handling, overhead crane, and industrial applications, according to the company.

Transmitters are available in four-, six-, eight-, and 12-button style options, while receivers will be available in 4/6 and 8/12 styles.

The Flex EX2 offers advanced software capabilities, including expanded frequency ranges, channel scanning schemes for anti-interference, drop detection, and remote pairing.
