Floor labels: Dasko Label has introduced
Duracode, a new label that combines variable printing with floor-marking technology
in a cost-effective process. Chemically welded layers provide a shield to protect the print
image and allow for bar-code scanning. An industrial adhesive
provides an aggressive bond for long-term use. Duracode is
resistant to moisture, oil, chemicals, abrasion, and forklift traffic,
the company says.
The labels are available in many standard sizes or can be custom designed to meet the user’s needs. They can be printed in
colors and may include bar codes, sequential numbering, check
digits, variable or static text, graphics, and logos.
Duracode warehouse floor labels are ideal for harsh environments and can also be used for racking, permanent pallet/tote
IDs, and equipment, the company says. (Dasko Label, www.

Flexible driver service: Flexible WorkForce LLC is a new contract
vendor management service for companies looking for more
comprehensive ways to manage their flexible driver workforce.
The vendor’s automated platform is a one-stop alternative for
logistics companies looking to recruit, screen, verify, onboard,
manage, pay, and insure a flexible driver workforce.
Clients using Flexible WorkForce’s dashboard also get access
to the company’s new Driver Marketplace, which is designed to
help them find, recruit, and seamlessly onboard drivers. (Flexible

Bluetooth data logger: SpotSee, a global Internet of Things
(Io T) connectivity platform, has teamed up with Bosch Connected
Devices and Solutions to develop the SpotBot BLE, a transport
data logger that measures and transmits impact, tilt, temperature, and humidity data through Bluetooth communication.
The SpotBot BLE was created as a cost-effective, simple, and
reliable way to bring transparency to the entire supply chain.
The device operates using hardware and engineering support
from Bosch that is connected and displayed through the SpotSee
mobile application.
Alarm thresholds for each parameter measured by the SpotBot
BLE (impact, tilt, temperature, and humidity) can be individually
configured based on the sensitivities of the products being transported. At the end of the journey, data from the device is easily
downloaded to the mobile application to quickly identify potential damage caused by threshold violations and to understand
where in the supply chain they might have occurred. (SpotSee,

RFID reader: Alien Technology has unveiled a new handheld
RFID (radio-frequency identification) reader. The new device, the
ALR-S350, offers superior tag reading performance and long battery life, making it ideal for heavy inventory tasks, the company
says. The manufacturer adds that by including the RFID capability
in the handheld sled device and separating the operating system,
display, and communication technology into a smart device, it
has created a solution that gives users the freedom to use their
personal phone or tablet.
The new ALR-S350 solution features a double-capacity single
battery, enabling up to 24 hours of intensive use; a robust design
with drop/impact testing to 4. 9 feet, an IP54 dust/water rating,
and a Quad Lock for secure smart device mounting; and effortless Bluetooth connection to any smart device through the use of
Bluetooth Low Energy.
The reader also supports a typical tag read-rate of 200 tags per
second and all major 1-D and 2-D bar codes.
The ALR-S350 is supplied as a complete kit that comes ready
to operate. The kit includes the ALR-S350 RFID sled, a Li-Po
double-capacity 7000mAh 3.7V battery, a multinational power
adapter/charging kit, and a cradle/dock with spare battery
charging slot. (Alien Technology LLC, www.alientechnology.com)
Recycled packaging: Lightweight Containers BV has introduced
two lightweight PET (polyethylene terephthalate) plastic recycled
packaging systems for the transportation of beverage products.
The KeyKeg features the ball-in-bag technology that maintains
a longer shelf life of a product. The UniKeg is designed for sin-gle-use limited releases of particular beverages.
With lightweight packaging, both KeyKeg and UniKeg offer
savings on transport of up to 65 percent, which can result in a
decreased carbon footprint by supply chain operators and help
with a beverage producer’s bottom line, allowing it to focus its
money elsewhere.
In addition, Lightweight Containers BV recently introduced
a new sustainability initiative. The company has started to collect used KeyKegs in order to manufacture new KeyKegs. With
this initiative, KeyKegs are expected to be made of up to 50
percent recycled materials. (Lightweight Containers BV, www.
