Freight audit and payment system: Softeon,
a supply chain software developer, is now
offering a freight audit and payment (FAP)
system as a component of its transportation
management system. This system can rate
and audit freight bills across several dozen
attributes and accessorials, and can perform
a three-way match among a company’s own
shipment information, proof-of-delivery information, and the carrier’s freight bill. It can be
used for parcel, less-than-truckload (LTL), and
full truckload shipments.
Softeon says its FAP system allows companies to use the same type of software that
some third-party audit firms use to identify
carriers’ errors and overcharges. With FAP,
shippers can identify, document, and report
on all the overcharges, such as a parcel carrier’s missing its delivery commitment for a
given class of service, a truckload carrier’s
miscalculating accessorial charges, or an LTL
carrier’s misclassifying freight.
Softeon’s FAP has the ability to allocate
revenue and cost at the stock-keeping unit
(SKU) level to more accurately calculate cost
of goods sold (COGS). The software can also
provide shipment tracking and customer service capabilities to measure carrier billing and
delivery performance. It includes analytics,
such as detailed freight spend and volume
analysis, plus a broad array of prepackaged
internal and carrier key performance indicators (KPIs).
FAP can be delivered via the cloud or
through a more traditional deployment.

Pallet wrapper: ITW Muller, a manufacturer of stretch wrap equipment and film, has
introduced a new version of its GW-4100
robotic pallet wrapper with a 40-inch carriage. According to ITW Muller, the newly
designed carriage offers twice the speed,
throughput, and battery life of the
standard GW-4100.
The 40-inch carriage was created to allow companies to wrap
larger loads while still keeping cost
and maintenance requirements low. The
GW-4100 40-inch robotic pallet wrapper
boasts speeds of up to 60 loads per hour
and comes standard with a telescoping mast
that allows for easy mobility, accommodating
loads up to 110 inches high.
The GW-4100 40-inch can be moved
around a DC and is easy to install, the company says. The machine can wrap 400 loads
per charge and offers such safety features as
an emergency stop button and safety contact
edge. (ITW Muller, www.mullerlcs.com)
Fire-resistant curtain wall: The Zoneworks TZF insulated curtain wall from Rite-Hite adds flame resistance to the existing TZ series of insulated curtain wall products.
The TZF curtain wall is intended for areas that need a fire-resistant wall for temperature separation or control. The flexible system allows users to partition large
interior spaces where temperature and energy savings are essential.
Zoneworks custom-designed insulated curtain walls can be mounted to the
existing ceiling structure or designed with a custom framework. The curtain wall’s
internal carbon fiber construction limits smoke and flame spread, meeting National
Fire Protection Association Class A standards. (Rite-Hite, www.zoneworks.com)
