Tow tractor and walkie stacker: Seegrid, a
manufacturer of automated guided vehicles
(AGVs), has added the GT4 tow tractor
and GWSL3 Walkie Stacker to its
Flexible AGV product suite.
The GT4 is a compact, low-capac-
ity tow tractor that automates the
movement of flatbed carts, trains,
The GWSL3 is an automated walkie stack-
er that can transport palletized goods and
has a load capacity of up to 3,000 pounds.
Standard applications for the GWSL3 are end-
of-line deliveries, staging, and replenishment.
The GT4 and GWSL3 use Seegrid’s patented vision-guided navigation system and
do not need wires, laser targets, magnetic
tape, or any infrastructure changes to navigate around the distribution center. (Seegrid

Order-picking smart glasses: Evolar, an
information and communications technology
and logistics company based in Belgium, has
brought the concept of smart glasses into the
warehouse with its new “smartpick” solution.
The solution uses Vuzix M100 Smart Glasses
from Vuzix Corp. for order picking.
Similar to voice picking, the smartpick
application allows the picker to use both
hands instead of having to hold a device with
one hand and pick with the other. The smartpick glasses, however, require less investment
than other hands-free solutions such as pick-to-light or voice, according to Evolar. In addition, the company says that smartpick only
requires 15 minutes of training.
Smartpick is a cloud-based solution, and so
does not require any additional infrastructure
beyond an enterprise resource planning (ERP)
system or warehouse management system to
access order data, a printer, and a Wi-Fi connection. (Evolar, www.smartpick.be)
Bar-code scanner: Honeywell has released a
new version of its Granit scanner. A full-range
scanner for both near and far scanning, the
Granit 1280iFR is made to be highly durable.
The scanner can read bar codes as close as
3. 5 inches away and as far as 54 feet away. It
is also designed to handle cold environments
up to - 22 degrees F.
The scanner can survive more than 5,000
drops from 1 meter ( 3. 3 feet) and 50 drops
from 2 meters ( 6. 6 feet) onto concrete.

Hybrid pallets: Green Pallets Inc. has launched a new line of Hybrid (plastic and
wood) Pallets. The Hybrid Series is a new development in pallet technology, according to Green Pallets. Over six patents have been used to construct this new type
of pallet.
Made up of hardened heavy-duty plastic and wood, the Hybrid Series of
pallets offers the toughness and durability of plastic combined with the rigidity
and strength of wood. The Hybrid Pallet exceeds current standards with rack-ca-pable capacity rated at up to 4,545 kg or 10,000 pounds. (Green Pallets, www.
