Scanners: Intermec Inc. has introduced two
new scanning solutions: the SF61B, a wireless
mobility scanner, and the SR31T, a tethered
scanner. The SF61B wireless scanner is
designed for use in distribution centers, transportation, and logistics as well as field-service
and health-care operations. The SR31T tethered scanner is for general-purpose and light-industrial environments.
According to Intermec, both scanners feature the quickest time-to-read, two-dimensional imaging technology in their class.
SF61B provides high-performance scanning
for the mobile worker. It has a long battery
life and a compact, rugged form factor similar
to a small flashlight. Unlike traditional gun-shaped scanners, the SF61B features a magnetic attach/release system that allows the
device to be quickly accessed or securely
stowed away as needed. With integrated
Bluetooth wireless, the SF61B works well with
Android, iOS, and Windows Mobile tablets
and smartphones already deployed in field
service, customer service, or mobile point-of-sale applications.
Despite its small size, the SF61B offers full-size scanning performance. Integrated
Intermec EA30/31 scan engines deliver
extreme motion tolerance (up to 500 inches
per second), and all models include a
Bluetooth Class 1 radio providing up to 325
feet of wireless range. The SF61B features a
user-replaceable battery capable of lasting
well beyond a full eight-hour shift, even in
scan-intensive applications. The scanner is
tested to withstand repeated drops to concrete from 6. 5 feet and is rated IP65.
The SR31T tethered handheld scanner provides high performance, durability, and ease
of use for a wide variety of scan-intensive
applications. The SR31T can read all common
one-dimensional (1D), PDF, two-dimensional
(2D), and postal symbologies. It can also reli-ably read codes from smartphones, tablets, or
computer displays. Rated IP53 and built to
withstand 26 drops from 6 feet, the SR31T is

Pallet rack protection: Aisle Shield from
Wireway Husky Corp. provides fall protection
for pallet rack aisles. The device, made from
all-steel, welded wire, prevents product from
falling, thus yielding a safer work environment and more efficient material handling,

Cargo quality recorder: The ShockTimer-Plus 3D version 2 (STP-3Dv2) monitors
cargo during shipment for hazardous impacts, drops, or other abuse. The reusable,
battery-powered instrument captures tri-axial shocks and impacts above a specified
“abuse threshold” and date and time stamps the event. It also periodically records
atmospheric conditions for the cargo. The device wirelessly communicates cargo-handling data at the end of shipment to a host PC. Suitable for use in ocean containers and other containerized, crated, or palletized shipments or unit loads, the
unit features a six-month battery life, making it ideal for long-term deployments.
