Henkel offers solvent-free urethane resin
Henkel Corp. has introduced two versatile and durable translucent aliphatic
waterborne urethane resins used for formulating industrial water-based coatings. Henkel SF18 and SF26 can be
used in the formulation of high performance wood, vinyl, metal and concrete
coatings. They are solvent-free resins
that offer superior hardness, high gloss
and chemical and abrasion resistance
properties. Henkel SF18 and SF26 are
single-component, ultra-low VOC products that meet the strict requirements
for formulating green coatings. Floor
coatings formulated with these resins
are non-yellowing, have the appearance
and durability of solventborne coatings
and can be applied with virtually no
odor, according to the company. More

GELEST PUBLISHES CROSS-COUPLING
REAGENTS BROCHURE
Gelest has published a new 36-page
brochure, “Silicon-Based Cross-Coupling Reagents.” The brochure provides a discussion of cross-coupling
reactions, a recently introduced synthetic method for carbon-carbon bond
formation. More than 100 references
are cited, including key reviews on the
formation of styrene, diene and enyne
derivatives and Heck coupling/cross
coupling cascade reaction sequences.
The brochure describes the use of
organosilianes in these cross-coupling
reactions and provides a list of more
than 100 products available from
Gelest with information on their use for
this application. The silicon-based products provide a non-toxic, easily-handled,
economic alternative to tin and boron
cross-coupling derivatives. A digital version of the brochure can be downloaded
on the company’s web site. More info:

A.W.T. WORLD TRADE LAUNCHES
ACCU-CURE UV CURING UNITS
A.W.T. World Trade, Inc. has launched
Accu-Cure UV curing units, which are
engineered specifically for high speed
curing of PCBs and other flat and rigid
panel substrates. According to the company, by minimizing the level of heat
transmission, the Accu-Cure UV’s computer designed cooling system protects
both substrate and belt, keeping distortion to a minimum. Accu-Cure UV features a repositionable curing head with
an easy-to-clean focused reflector, and a
simple gate height adjustment that
accommodates substrates of different
thickness. Variable position wattage
selection of 100-, 200-, 300- or 400-watts
per inch lets the operator choose the
most efficient UV output for the application, extending lamp life in addition
to saving electricity. More info: A.W.T.

CELANESE LAUNCHES ECOVAE
EMULSIONS IN ASIA
Celanese Emulsion Polymers has introduced EcoVAE emulsions for low odor,
low VOC interior decorative paints to
the Asian region. This new line of products was created to meet the regulatory
requirements for lower VOC limits and
growing consumer demand worldwide
for more environmentally friendly, low
odor products. Emulsions designed for
the interior decorative paint segment
include EcoVAE 1601, a universal
binder for matt and satin paint;
EcoVAE 1608 to formulate freeze/thaw
stable coatings; and EcoVAE 1630 for
semi-gloss coatings. All EcoVAE emulsions are synthesized to be APEO-free
and offer specific advantages for interior paint in wet scrub resistance.

CYTEC OFFERS NEW UV CURABLE
PRESSURE SENSITIVE ADHESIVES
Cytec Industries Inc. has launched
Gelva multipolymer radiation (GMR)
8020-02 UV curable pressure sensitive
adhesives (PSA). Targeted usage for
this 100% solids UV curable PSA
includes high performance industrial
tapes, automotive instrument panel
and electronic assemblies, nameplates, low and high surface energy
materials and foam tapes. According
to the company, GMR 8020-02 offers
an excellent peel-shear balance in
comparison to other adhesive technologies. It is designed to require less
energy consumption during the curing
process and provides a wide cure window for thick deposition coating, even
at high line speeds. In addition, GMR
8020-02 improves handling safety and
reduces regulatory concerns. More

RAHN LAUNCHES TWO NEW
IN-CAN STABILIZERS
Rahn has launched two new in-can stabilizers. Low viscosity Genorad 22 in-can stabilizers are designed for use in
UV coating formulations and ink jet
inks. It offers effective stabilization
without compromising formulation viscosity and cure speed, according to the
company. The new stabilizer features
excellent compatibility with photoini-tiators, monomers and oligomers.
Genomer 6052/TM is a chlorinated
polyester resin in TMPTA, designed for
use in radically curable inks, coatings
and adhesives. It is recommended for
UV inks where excellent adhesion to
difficult substrates is required. It
improves adhesion on various substrates such as PVC, PE/PP, polyester
and polystyrene. More info: Rahn, E-mail: energycuring@rahn-group.com;
