PPG appoints Niekamp VP, auto coatings
PPG Industries has appointed Cynthia Niekamp vice president, automotive coatings. She is based at the company’s
Troy, MI automotive technology center and reports directly to
William Wulfsohn, senior vice president, coatings. Niekamp
joins the company from Borg Warner Inc., where she led the
global Torq Transfer Systems business.
ALTERGOTT NAMED PRESIDENT
AND COO OF DUNN-EDWARDS
Karl Altergott has been named president and chief operating officer of Dunn-Edwards Corp. Altergott has an extensive management background, most recently serving as
CEO of Rincon Industries. Altergott succeeds Dennis
Kromer, who recently retired.

NAMES LEE INDUSTRIAL CHEMIST
Burke Industrial Coatings has named Michael Lee industrial chemist. Lee’s responsibilities will include helping the company continue to develop high performance specialized paint
and coatings that are safe and environmentally friendly.
POWDER COATINGS INSTITUTE
NAMES NEW TECHNICAL DIRECTOR
The Powder Coatings Institute (PCI) has named Rodger
Talbert technical director. Talbert will act as the technical
liaison between PCI and the marketplace, focusing on
training and education. With more than 30 years of experience in the coatings industry, he will be able to offer technical guidance, market research, training, coating evaluation and testing.
MANAGEMENT CHANGES IN TIKKURILA’S UNIT IN UKRAINE
Raivo Voit has been appointed the new general director of
LLC Tikkurila, the Ukrainian subsidiary of Tikkurila. Voit
will be responsible for developing Tikkurila’s decorative paint
and industrial coatings businesses in Ukraine. He will report
to Janno Paju, vice president, Tikkurila Deco East and Yury
Matyas, director, Tikkurila Industrial Coatings East.
EVONIK MAKES MANAGEMENT CHANGE
Martin Welp has been named head of Evonik’s polyesters
and adhesive resins product line. Welp joined Evonik in
1999. After working in various areas of the group, he
became managing director with operational responsibility
for Evonik Colortrend B.V. Recently Welp had responsibility for the management of global marketing in the
Colorants Product Line and the Polytrend business.
NETZSCH PROMOTES JOHN HILL TO ADVISORY ROLE
NETZSCH Fine Particle Technology LLC has appointed
John Hill as application and process advisor. In his new
position, Hill will work closely with customers in a variety
of industries to solve their most difficult challenges in
implementing nanotechnology. He will also provide process
support for the regional sales team and oversee the customer research and development laboratory.
REYNOLDS INDUSTRIES NAMES HOPCUS SALES MANAGER
Reynolds Industries, a manufacturer of industrial mixing
and processing equipment, has appointed Nelson Hopcus
sales manager of Reynold’s worldwide sales organization. He
has 30 years of experience including national and international capital equipment, process automation manufacturing
and marketing and sales management in pulp paper, plastics
