CAS-MI FORMS ALLIANCE
WITH CHEMICAL DYNAMICS
CAS-MI Laboratories, an independent laboratory and product formulation facility, has formed an alliance
with Chemical Dynamics, LLC, a
coatings consulting firm that also
specializes in formulation development. Ronald J. Lewarchik, of
Chemical Dynamics, brings over 35
years of research and development
experience in formulating and testing of a wide variety of industrial,
automotive and UV-cure coatings. He
has special expertise in developing
low VOC content coatings, low temperature cure coatings, ultra durable
compositions, as well as thin, conventional and thick film corrosion resistant primers.
CAS-MI Laboratories, along with
the CAS-MI Innovation Center, helps
entrepreneurs and established corporations create new paints, coatings,
adhesives, sealants, and other specially formulated products. Since
1943, CAS-MI has helped companies
with formulation development and
troubleshooting. They have recently
moved into a new 11,000 sq. ft. facility, allowing for expansion of both
their analytical and chemical formulation services. The alliance with
Chemical Dynamics will be an asset
to CAS-MI’s expanded offerings to
the paint and coatings industry.
AMERICAN POWDER COATINGS,
KELLEY TECHNICAL FORM ALLIANCE
American Powder Coatings, Inc.
(APC) and Kelley Technical Coatings
(KTC) have formed a partnership.
Kelley Tech will sell and market APC
powder coatings in an exclusive territory to include parts of Ohio,
Illinois, Indiana and the states of
Kentucky, Tennessee, Mississippi,
Alabama and Georgia.
The APC/KTC alliance culminates
in being able to offer the customer a
very cost effective solution. APC
offers competitive pricing and KTC
serves as a value added proposition
in aggressive selling in a territory
that is already being actively covered
in KTC’s liquid initiatives. KTC will
be the direct selling arm of APC and
thus leverages an already attractive
business solution for many customers. This relationship will allow
customers to reduce their material
costs, improve quality and shorten
their lead times on special jobs.
APC serves most powder coating
markets and industries, including agricultural, appliance, automotive, display, electrical, furniture, lawn and garden, lighting and other metal finishing
industries. APC operates from a state-of-the-art powder manufacturing facility in Saint Charles, IL.
Kelley Technical Coatings serves a
broad array of customers through two
divisions—swimming pool and deck
coatings division and industrial division—both located in Louisville, KY.

GREENKOTE EXPANDS
PRODUCTION IN GERMANY
Greenkote Plc, a global coating technology company, has expanded production at its location in Sauerlach,
Germany. The new plant production
area operates multiple shifts on two
production lines to support its customers throughout Europe.
Since January 2009, the Sauerlach
plant has served a number of customers with its Greenkote PM
Thermo-Diffusion coatings that
enhance the properties of a wide
range of metals, alloys and sintered
powders giving them added qualities
such as increased resistance to corrosion and wear protection on a vast
array of parts. The facility capabilities include automotive stampings
and fasteners, small metal castings,
powder metal parts, construction
bolts and hardware, machinery
parts, and offshore oil and gas industry fittings and hardware.
HURON CAPITAL BUYS SEVENTH
SPECIALTY COATINGS COMPANY
Huron Capital Partners LLC
announced that its portfolio company, Quest Specialty Chemicals, Inc.,
has acquired Custom Finishes, Inc.
Custom Finishes will be managed
under Quest’s wholly-owned subsidiary, Raabe Company LLC, and
will relocate its operations to Raabe’s
facilities in Wisconsin. Based in
Menomonee Falls, WI, Raabe is a
leading manufacturer of branded
custom matched touch-up paint and
provider of private label aerosol
paint filling services. Raabe’s touch-up products consist of ready-to-apply
paints that closely match original
equipment coatings and are used to
repair the surfaces of industrial and
commercial products along all points
of the supply chain. Based in
Brighton, TN, Custom Finishes is a
manufacturer of custom-matched
aerosol spray paints, brush cap bottled paints, vinyl and carpet dyes,
and camouflage paints.
The acquisition marks the seventh
specialty chemical company that
Huron has acquired through its
Quest platform, and 44th overall
since the inception of the firm.
