Mink elected president and CEO of Angus
Kim Ann Mink has been elected president and CEO of Angus Chemical
Company, a wholly owned subsidiary
of The Dow Chemical Company; president of CanStates Holdings Inc., the
immediate parent of Angus, and a
member of the Angus Chemie GmbH
Advisory Board. Mink also serves as
global general manager of
Performance Materials, a business
unit of The Dow Chemical Company.
Mink joined Dow in April 2009 following 20 years with Rohm and Haas
Company. Most recently, she was the
general manager for Rohm and
Haas’s worldwide Ion Exchange
Resins business, and a Rohm and
Haas corporate vice president.
She began her career at Rohm and
Haas in 1988 as a group leader in the
Analytical Research Department. In
1991, she became the corporate regulatory affairs manager in the product
integrity department with responsibility of managing programs to
obtain and maintain U.S. FDA
approvals for the use of Rohm and
Haas products. Since 1995, Mink has
held several commercial roles of
increasing responsibility for various
businesses, regionally and globally,
including, North American region
account manager, petroleum chemicals; Americas marketing manager
and North American region commercial manager, consumer and industrial specialties; global general manager for the water business in process
chemicals; and Americas general
manager for process chemicals.
MACDONALD TO LEAD ASHLAND’S
COATINGS ADDITIVES GROUP
Ashland Aqualon Functional Ingredients (AAFI) has appointed Dale
MacDonald vice president of its coatings additives industry group. MacDonald will be responsible for busi-
ness management and strategy development, focused on driving
growth of AAFI’s coatings additives
business globally. MacDonald joined
Ashland in 1990 as a business development specialist in planning and
development.Most recently, he
served as president, Asia Pacific, for
Ashland Inc.
CPMA ELECTS NEW
CHAIRMAN AND VICE CHAIR
The Color Pigments Manufacturers
Association (CPMA) has elected Luiz
Vieira of EMD Chemicals Inc. chairman and Dan Van Kampen of
FlintGroup Pigments vice chairman
of the association. Vieira had served
as vice chairman of the association
for the previous two years and Van
Kampen was previously a member of
the CPMA board of governors. Also
elected to serve one-year terms as
members of the board of governors
were Mike Klein of Dominion Colour
who just complete two years as chairman, and Chuck Jones of Clariant
Corp., Bob Lane of The Shepherd
Color Company, Dave Klebine of
Apollo Colors, Myron Petruch of Sun
Chemical Corp. and Phil Webb of
BASF. Continuing on the board is
Ron Levi of Bruchsaler Ferbenfabrik
GmbH & Co. KG. J. Lawrence
Robinson was reelected as president,
secretary and treasurer for another
one year term.
LAITALA TO LEAD
TIKKURILA IN RUSSIA
Simo Laitala has been appointed
managing director of OOO
Tikkurila. He will be responsible for
Tikkurila’s operations in Russia.
Based in St. Peterburg, he will report
to Janno Paju, vice president,
Tikkurila Deco East. Laitala has previously worked as regional director
for Tikkurila Deco East, Central Asia
and as general director of TOO
Tikkurila in Kazakhstan.
HENDRICKSON APPOINTED
TO VALSPAR BOARD
Gary E. Hendrickson, Valspar’s president and chief operating officer, has
been elected to its board of directors.
With his election, Valspar’s 12-mem-
ber board of directors is comprised of
ten independent directors and two
Valspar executive officers, Hendrickson and William L. Mansfield,
chairman and CEO.
AKZONOBEL APPOINTS NEW
CORPORATE DIRECTOR CONTROL
Hans de Vriese has been appointed
AkzoNobel’s new corporate director
control. de Vriese brings to AkzoNobel a strong financial background,
and experience, gained across a variety of financial positions within
General Motors Corporation in
Europe, the U.S. and China.
TRUST CHEM USA ADDS
WRIGHT TO MIDWEST TEAM
Trust Chem USA has added Mike
Wright to its Midwest team. Wright
has more than 35 years experience in
the pigment industry working for
several companies including DuPont
and Hoechst/Clariant. Wright will be
responsible to handle select key
Midwest coatings customers.

MAKES APPOINTMENTS
William G. Cary has been appointed
chairman of the board and executive
vice president of The Cary Company
and Kenneth E. Tyrrell was appointed president and CEO. Tyrrell, a
shareholder since 1986, also redeemed 100% of the remaining
