Dow Coating Materials has introduced Rhoplex EZ Clean 200, a 100%
acrylic binder designed for premium
interior flat and satin broad wall
paints requiring high resistance to
household stains. Paint based on
Rhoplex EZ Clean 200 exhibit excellent hydrophilic stain repellency
combined with good hydrophobic
stain removal, according to the company. Additionally, Rhoplex EZ Clean
200 requires no coalescent and therefore can be formulated into very low
VOC coatings with good film formation. Rhoplex EZ Clean 200 also contains no APEO (alkyl phenol ethoxylate), allowing it to be formulated
into paints that meet environmental

BYK-Gardner has released a new
updated version of the compact byko-test 4500 thickness gauge. The updated, pocket size gauge now includes
automatic substrate recognition which
allows measurements to be taken
more quickly, extended measuring
range up to 120 mils for NFe substrates and increased size of graphics
display with backlight. The one-handed easy-to-use byko-test 4500 still
maintains previous features such as

UCAR Emulsion Systems and Monomers has introduced UCAR Latex 634,
a 100% acrylic binder that enables high
scrub resistance, wet adhesion and
excellent film formation in low-VOC
interior coatings, according to the company. UCAR Latex 634 can be formulated over a wide range of pigment volume
concentrations in paints ranging from
flat to semi-gloss, providing efficient
pigment binding. Resulting paint finishes yield outstanding high scrub
resistance, low-temperature coalese-cence and early development of wet
adhesion, according to the company.
The polymer contains no added
alkylphenol ethoxylate surfactants
(APEs), formaldehyde or formaldehyde

URETHANE ADHESIVE
Ashland Performance Materials has
launched Pliogrip 8400 urethane adhesion. Designed for manufacturers who
use adhesives to bond composites,
Pliogrip 8400 offers no-prep performance in room-temperature bonding of
SMC, RTM and open-mold composites.
According to Ashland, Pliogrip 8400
delivers performance capabilities
unlike other urethane adhesives. For
some customers, it allows for elimination of sanding and other surface
preparation in room temperature
bonding of SMC, and in other cases it
offers an alternative to methacrylate-based adhesives on RTM and open-mold composites such as hand

CYTEC LAUNCHES EBECRYL 891 FOR
UV ON-SITE CONCRETE COATINGS
Cytec Industries has launched Ebecryl
891 resin, a UV curable acrylate specifically developed for on-site or field
applied application on concrete flooring.
The new modified polyester acrylate
provides good viscosity, abrasion resistance and cure speed, Cytec reports.
When formulated with Cytec’s other
Ebecryl UV curable resin systems, more
specific properties can also be achieved,
including toughness, adhesion and

OFFERS BAYHYDROL AH XP 2741
Bayer MaterialScience has introduced a new member of its line of
Bayhydrol products for one-component coating systems. Bayhydrol AH
XP 2741 is the first of a new range of
high-molecular-weight, polyacrylate
dispersions for coating wood and furniture. Bayhydrol AH XP 2741 resin,
which is solvent-free, is particularly
well suited for the formulation of low-to no-VOC, one-component coatings
for indoor wood floors and furniture.
Clearcoats formulated with this
waterborne styrene-acrylate copolymer highly accentuate the wood’s
grain and provide good chemical
resistance. This universal resin can
be used to formulate primers and
high-gloss or semi-gloss coatings.
Bayhydrol AH XP 2741 can be used in
combination with polyurethane dispersions (PUDs) as well as UV-cured
