PPG LAUNCHES VACUUM METALIZED COATING SYSTEM
PPG has introduced VIVATI VM coatings, a highly chromatic, high-performance vacuum metalized coating system that delivers a new level of
vibrant color to consumer products.
Vacuum metalized coatings are used to place a thin metal layer on plastic substrates, and they decorate many smartphones, music players and
other hand-held devices in bright, shiny colors. Vacuum metalized coatings
also adorn toys, personal computers, automotive trim, sporting goods, decorative fixtures and many other products.
PPG’s new vacuum metalized coating system represents a significant
advance in the industry.
According to Andrew Stadler,

Manufacturers typically purchase
three coating layers—primer,
base coat and clear coat—from
multiple suppliers. VIVATI VM
coatings offer the first integrated
system from a single supplier.”
As a single-source coating system, Stadler said VIVATI VM
coatings enable manufacturers to
more effectively manage the vacuum metalizing process. “Because
the primer, base and clear coats all
come from one supplier, they work
together for performance and
application and give manufacturers a larger operating window
with fewer mistakes and higher production output. This helps to increase
yields and expedite the launch of new products and colors.”
Stadler added that vacuum metalizing operations using single-source
VIVATI VM coatings require less training than those using multiple suppliers, which can help manufacturers to reduce risk and launch new products and new colors more quickly.

INTRODUCES MARINELINE X
Advanced Polymer Coatings has introduced MarineLine X to the maritime
tanker transport market. It offers versatile, effective solutions for product and
oil tanker carriers trading in clean
petroleum products (CPP), bio fuels, vegetable oils, crude oil and dirty petroleum
products (DPP), wine carriers, FPSOs,
FOSFA cargoes, and all tankers carrying IBC Chapter 18 cargoes.
MarineLine X only requires a two-coat system, compared to three coatings
for phenol epoxy. This eliminates extra
days for drying and extra spray application costs, resulting in savings and
allowing the owner to maximize return
on investment in a short period of time.
MarineLine X has a very smooth, low
energy surface, which provides fast and
easy cleaning, according to the company.
Another key benefit is MarineLine X’s
inherent chemical resistance, as the
coating is formulated with patented
high performance polymers that cross-link together to form a hard, tightly knit
structure. MarineLine X will be provided with a semi-gloss, light blue color.

six premixed colors only. A high-solids,
two-component catalyzed polyamide
coating, it delivers aesthetic appeal
along with durable, long-term protection
for industrial, commercial and marine
applications where a heavy duty epoxy
is required. ArmorSeal, formulated for
application to steel, concrete and wood
surfaces, is known for fast return to
service and resistance to alkalis, acids,
solvents, jet fuel and grease, as well as
moisture, abrasion and impact. The
coating can be formulated to meet ADA
requirements for slip resistant floors,

LOW-VOC URETHANES FOR FLOORS
Two high wear moisture-cured urethane
floor finishes that offer excellent color
and gloss retention are now available
from Tnemec. Series 247 EverThane
(gloss) and Series 248 Ever Thane (satin)
are extremely hard, urethane floor coatings with outstanding resistance to
abrasion, stains, chemicals, wet conditions and corrosive fumes.
